An easy, wide, well kept gravel trail along an old railway line. There were some great views of the river at the beginning and the history of the Menesetung Bridge was fascinating. There is a small parking lot at the head of the trail, though it can fill up on busy days. This section of trail is the start of the Goderich to Guelph trail, so it is a there and back trail which goes a long distance and for single day trips will be done in sections. This section is very pretty and a nice easy hike in town. There were two off-shoot trails which were dirt based and had more hills and nature for a change. Read moreWe spotted the trailhead while exploring the area, parked in the designated (ample and free) parking and set off for an enjoyable hours walk. For photographers the opportunities are limited only by your imagination. For birders there is a vast array of habitats every which way you look, for walkers there is the main trail up the incline and over the bridge plus several side trails. For the diners there is the absolutely fabulous Goderich Harbour Restaurant which is open year round for dine-in, outside (seasonal) dining, takeaway or car picnic - it is just 100 yards down the road from the trailhead and a fantastic and rewarding end point for your walking or other appetite...
