**Menesetung Bridge: A Must-See Historical Gem in Goderich** Visiting Goderich? Don't miss the Menesetung Bridge! Constructed at the dawn of the 20th century, this iconic structure was once the highest bridge in Canada, originally serving as a railway bridge. Today, it stands as a testament to engineering marvels of the past and offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty. The bridge marks the starting point of a scenic walking and biking trail that stretches all the way to Guelph, making it perfect for both casual strolls and more ambitious adventures. The panoramic views from the bridge are simply breathtaking, providing a stunning vantage point over the Maitland River and surrounding landscapes. Whether you're a history buff, nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy the beauty of Ontario, Menesetung Bridge is a destination you won't want to miss. Highly recommended!

Part of the Tiger Dunlop trail. Free parking at the south end of the bridge- walk up the gravel path for a stunning view of the golf course on the right/east. Lots of birds. The bridge is amazing and there are some historical signs. On the left/west side, at the north end is a loop trail - no distance but I would say maybe 2km? It is mostly flat and easy to follow. It follows the river at first, so you can see (and hear) the salt mine facilitates. I thought it would bring us to a nice view of Lake Huron, but no. It’s all woods. There is an ancient oak tree with it’s story on a plaque. When you get back to the bridge you can continue north if desired.

It is a very scenic trail containing historic wooden bridge which was originally built for rail route in Godereach, Ontario. It’s construction started in 1905. It took two years to complete it in 1907. It is now a very pleasant trail and gives beautiful views of the river and surrounding areas. The Menesetung Bridge spans the Maitland River near its entry into Lake Huron in Goderich.

This is one of the best of Goderich, historical bridge with a great view of the lake that runs through Goderich and amazing short hike.

There are plenty of parking near the site, and the trail is always clean. Benches a long the way offers a nice place to sit for a coffee or a quick snack, and the people of Goderich are very pleasant and you will always be met with a warm greeting along other hikers on the trail. A must stop when in the Huron area for a family and pet friendly hike.
