It's a beautiful greenhouse, and a bonus is that it's free admission. It's difficult to find things to do these days that don't cost money. I visited today with my two friends and had a lovely time. It's a great place to visit.
However, I brought my camera along to also take a couple photos of my friends and was interrupted by one of the staff who told me I wasn't allowed to take photos without a permit. I explained that i'm not a professional photographer and it was not a paid commercial gig or anything of the sort, I was simply taking a few photos of my friends... apparently that doesn't matter. I was told I could use my cellphone instead, as that's permitted. This seems rather silly and unreasonable, as it's simply dependant on the device you're using that matters?
This is also not stated anywhere on signage or on the website under the listed "Non Permitted Uses". Afterward, I found the information on a rental application on the website: Photos/Events - before 5pm. 2 hour block - Feb 28 to Nov 1 (open to public, no tables or chairs) $251.00 +tax. So in order to take photos with a camera or anything but a cellphone, you have to pay this rental fee for 2hrs of use. Quite...
Read moreWe love this greenhouse, it's especially great during the colder months to have a beautiful tropical place to get up close to fantastic plant life and get a bit of peace from the winter blues. Everything is well cared for and feels like an oasis amidst the local Canadian landscape.
TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN: Is there a way to contact you? I can't find a phone number, social media or website with updates? I have come 4 times and it's been closed for private events. How do we know when those days are if there is no notice aside from walking up to the door? It's very, very disappointing and heartbreaking each time I arrive and realize I can't access this sanctuary of a public space (especially after planning ahead, making the time, preparing and making the trip there. It's not like there is another alternative close by). Is there a better way to handle this as we're not the only ones feeling this way. Thank...
