Food Recommendations in Kamloops 😋

The first time when I went to Madras Masala as a new student here in Kamloops, I didn't have much expectation as I thought it would be like the usual Indian restaurant in a western country, but they proved it all wrong, and now it has become one of my favourite to go places in Kamloops whenever I miss India. The friendly and courteous staff who provides great services and will keenly listen to your food customisations, allergies, and levels of spiciness while taking the order. Above all, the main chefs there, who are also the people who own the restaurant, are very passionate about Indian food and cooking, and they do it with love and ensure to give a treat to our taste buds with their variety of dishes and spices that are authentic Indian style. Adding to it all, the ambience of the place is also very good, like the Indian song in the background, which makes you feel like you are in India. When it comes to food, each and every item that I have tried in Madras Masala and grill had never disappointed me and has proved to be worth every penny. I'm adding pictures from my last visit, when I had paneer kulcha, with it’s soft texture and ample amount of stuffing it is a must try. And don't forget to try their chefs special South Indian dishes (Briyani, Madurai style kothu parotta) which are served in adequate quantity as well. P.S thank me later for suggesting one of the best Indian restaurants in town.

This restaurant is the benchmark of worst food and experience in canada. This is my worst indian food experience. This restaurant lacks every common sense related to food and shouldn’t be serving food. I was new in Kamloops and went with few friends before I left. We ordered three dishes, malai kofta, paneer butter masala, and chicken biryani and pop. First they served us broken plates which could easily cut your fingers (image’s included). They first bought us malai kofta which had no salt and spice at all. After 20 mins they bought paneer butter masala which was also very bland and tasteless. After another 20 minutes they bought the chicken biryani when we had to remind the server for 2 pop cans we ordered to which the server gave us extremely depressed looks. Their washroom wad also very disappointing with a lot of painting stuff and tissue paper and rust on it. When we left we complained about the timeliness, taste and service and server completely blamed it on kitchen staff and how busy they were. She tried to justify she was very busy to even serve people dining in and 40 mins to bring 2 cans of pop. It was most disgusting experience and very sad to see these restaurants not respecting food, their profession, customers, staff and their business.

If you’re looking for the true taste of South India right here in Kamloops, Madras Masala is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and a genuine smile, setting the tone for a delightful dining experience. The ambience is clean, welcoming, and cozy – exactly what you’d expect from a restaurant that truly values its customers.

The food speaks volumes about their expertise. Their South Indian dishes are bursting with authentic flavors – from the perfectly crisp dosas and fluffy idlis to the aromatic sambar and chutneys that taste just like home. At the same time, their North Indian specialties are crafted with equal passion and skill, offering something for everyone who craves rich curries, soft naan, or flavorful biryanis.

One of the standout qualities of Madras Masala is their commitment to taste, authenticity, and quality. Every dish is prepared fresh, served in generous portions, and delivered to your table in surprisingly little time. It’s rare to find a restaurant that balances speed with quality so well. The prices are also very reasonable, especially considering the excellent quantity and consistency of the meals.

The service deserves a special mention – attentive, friendly, and always accommodating. The owner, "Annan",along with his wonderful team, work together seamlessly to ensure every guest feels valued. Their teamwork, cooperation, and understanding shine through in the way they serve and interact with customers. Whether it’s their polite way of welcoming or their willingness to go the extra mile, the experience here always feels personal and memorable.

In short, Madras Masala is not just a restaurant – it’s an experience of genuine hospitality and authentic Indian cuisine.

“Once you try Madras Masala, you’ll be a regular customer and your mind and stomach and heart will be happy and healthy...

A Solo Diner's Nightmare at Madras Masala and Grill

I visited Madras Masala and Grill in Kamloops on Friday, July 5, 2024, around 8:30 PM. Upon arrival, the beautiful girl at the cash till asked about the number of people dining in. When I mentioned it was just me, she instructed me to wait for 5 minutes. Thirty-five minutes later, still no table.

During my wait, I noticed a flurry of mobile orders being accepted. After 25 minutes, a party of six arrived and was seated promptly by another employee, who seemed unaware of my existence. He was preoccupied with attending calls and arranging deliveries. Despite available tables for four and six people, I was continually overlooked at Madras Masala and Grill.

Finally, I politely explained my situation to the busy employee and left Madras Masala and Grill. Starving and frustrated, I headed to The Coconut - Finest South Indian Cuisine nearby, where I was seated within 2 minutes despite their busyness. The food there—Badam milk, Veg Fried Rice, Cauliflower Manchurian, and Sambar Vada—was absolutely delicious.

I’m actually glad Madras Masala and Grill gave me the opportunity to discover The Coconut - Finest South Indian Cuisine. If you’re dining solo and enjoy being ignored, Madras Masala and Grill is the place for you. Otherwise, save yourself the hassle and head straight to The Coconut - Finest South Indian Cuisine.

PLEASE DO NOT SAY THAT SHE FORGOT ABOUT ME, OR DID NOT SEE ME WAITING !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for...
