This is one of Waterway your boat will use to get up to North of the area, and this one is little better than other Waterways.
This town have nice street which full of stores and restaurants, and access to government services are within the reach.
There are several bridges to cross over the river and this one should be avoid if you are in rush or simply no patience for waiting.
Because when there is a boat which is higher than the bridge, the Waterway operator will lift and turn the bridge sideway to open up the space for boat to ride across.
It is really fun to watch and very entertaining if you are enjoying your time in town.
The waterway itself is not deep enough compare to others, I recommend you to check "Lock28 located at Burleigh Falls", that one I believe it has more than 4 metre or 13 feet deep, you can see the boat flow all the way down or raise from bottom.
Other than that, it is better for you to use the bridge at Northeast which on road 36 for quicker access.
I Recommended this location as one of your stop when you travel...
Read moreBobcaygeon lock is a super cool place to go through and come ashore. Shops line the Waterway so there's lots to see and do. Staff at the lock seemed overwhelmed with zero communication with any vessels entering the lock, causing multiple vessels yelling at each other to see who was going where/ which side. This was disappointing to witness. We requested camping in the lower side so e could carry on our journey long before the lock opened. We were directed to the point of the island with the absolute worst takeout and a space to camp smaller than our 2p tent footprint. Only after making do with just airpads and lots of bugspray, were we informed we could have gone around and come up to the park from the ramp. Note, always ask the same question to more than 1 lock staff member as not every one will know camping protocols. Despite the setbacks, id say Bobcaygeon is a great lock to visit and experience...
Read moreI was visiting Bobcaygen cute town and beautiful scenery, we had to drive 2 hours to get there so to wait about 20 min for the swing bridge was quite annoying, I mean I get it but still there doesn't seem to another route to avoid going that way. The two young people working the bridge were seeming to have trouble operating it or there might have been an issue with it. Also being our first time in Bobcaygen and using the swing bridge there's not a lot of signage explaining what you need to do. We figured it out but it does cause some confusion when waiting about who goes first... You just need to wait for the lights...
