I am writing to formally complain about an incident of overcharging that occurred on January 18, 2025, at Fresh Palace Supermarket located at 4040 Creditview Rd, Mississauga, ON, L5C 3Y8 (Phone: 905-896-1666 ). I purchased items totaling CAD 143.51, and after reviewing my receipt, I noticed a discrepancy concerning the item Galanlang LanZhou Noodles.
Despite purchasing only one packet of the noodles priced at CAD 2.99, I was charged twice under different entries on the bill. Upon querying this with the cashier, I was informed that if an item was purchased more than once, it would be grouped and listed with the quantity multiplied. They suggested a mislabeling with another item, and refused a refund.
On January 29, 2025, I revisited the store to resolve this issue and requested to view the surveillance footage. The footage revealed a scanning error by their machine, which erroneously added an extra charge for the noodles. The cashier acknowledged this mistake and processed a refund of CAD 2.99 for the overcharged item.
However, when I inquired whether the noodles should be provided free of charge due to the error, I was told that only the extra charge would be refunded. I am concerned that such errors might be frequent and unnoticed by customers who do not routinely check their receipts.
Therefore, I kindly request your assistance to investigate: Why the scanning machine at Fresh Palace Supermarket registered the same item twice under different entries. Whether the store's policy of merely refunding the overcharged amount without any further compensation complies with Ontario's consumer protection regulations. I believe the policy should compensate double the amount overcharged, i.e., CAD 2.99 + 2.99.
Attached are copies of the original purchase receipt from January 18 and the refund receipt for CAD 2.99 dated January 29. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to...
Read moreI recently had a disappointing experience at Fresh Palace Supermarket, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the customer service I received. This was my second visit, and unfortunately, it confirmed my initial impression that the staff lacks basic customer service skills. Upon entering the store, I was greeted with a lack of smiles and a generally unwelcoming atmosphere. The cash register operators exhibited a clear disinterest in their jobs, which made the checkout process uncomfortable. It felt as if they didn’t want to be there, and their rudeness only added to the overall negative experience. I encountered difficulties finding assistance when I needed help, as the staff seemed unwilling to offer any support. It’s disheartening to see a store with such potential fall short in providing a welcoming environment for customers. In contrast, I’ve had much better experiences at Btrust Supermarket next door, where the staff is always friendly and eager to assist. It’s clear that Fresh Palace Supermarket could benefit from taking some lessons in customer service from them. I’m writing this review because I genuinely care about the business and its success. I could have chosen to remain quiet, but I believe you owe it to your owner to know how customers are experiencing the store. My advice would be to increase the presence of the manager on the floor to gauge what is happening and address these issues directly. If this trend continues, I’m not sure how long Fresh Palace Supermarket will be able to sustain its business. I hope they take this feedback seriously and work on improving their customer service, as it can make all the difference in...
Read moreThe young worker at the cooked food department, who speaks Cantonese was very rude to seniors. I am almost 70 years old, I pointed a meat package asking him whether it was chicken. He looked at me for a while with expression of big surprise. He said:' This is a bone and it is for soup. After soup is ready you throw it away" . So far so good I appreciate his explanation. Then he continued, "if you bought it and chew it, then you will broke your teeth and you come back asking me to be responsible for it , I can not afford to pay your cost, You know it is very expensive to fix teeth here". It happens I lost one of my front teeth and am going to do an implant this month. I became angry, I could sense his rudeness and disrespect of seniors, It is really unnecessary for him talking like that, I will forgive him if he talks to his dad and grandfather in the same way. He should treat all the customers politely no matter how old they are, how much they spend, one dollar or a hundred dollars and whether they speak Cantonese or not.
By the way, young worker, please don't worry about me. There are two dentists in my family, my brother and...
