I have been a customer of Trutone Electronics for over 25 years, since the days they had a small satellite store at Yonge and Steeles on the Toronto-Thornhill border.
I can’t thank Jeff Lacey enough for all the help and guidance he’s given me. Jeff is a man of integrity, and is truly an asset to Trutone Electronics. He genuinely cares about his customers, and ensures they get the best audio experience from their equipment.
I just wanted to express my gratitude, and give you some feedback on the AudioQuest Niagara 5000, the three AudioQuest Tornado power cables, the AudioQuest NRG Edison Wall Receptacle, the IsoAcoustics OREAs, and the Solid Tech Radius Solo 5 component rack.
To start, I replaced my old audio cabinet with the Solid Tech Radius Solo 5. With this rack, I was able to place all my components in a perfect configuration. It allowed me to take the AudioQuest Niagara 5000 off the floor and place it on the bottom shelf (with four IsoAcoustics OREA Indigos under it) – connected the new AudioQuest 20-Amp Tornado High (Variable) Current power cable to it and to the AudioQuest 20-Amp NRG Edison Duplex Wall Receptacle. I placed four IsoAcoustics OREA Bronzes under my CD player, and connected the AudioQuest 15-Amp Tornado SOURCE power cable to it and the Niagara. I then connected the AudioQuest Tornado 15-Amp High (Variable) Current power cable to my amp (with yet another four IsoAcoustics OREA Indigos under it) and the Niagara. Then I connected my turntable and Blu-Ray player to the Niagara.
After everything was set up, I let the equipment warm up for about an hour, and I then listened to music. In a word, the experience was GLORIOUS!!! From the first few notes of music, the improvement was immediately evident. Even my wife exclaimed “WOW,” and she is not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination.
Some tracks I listened to include Dire Straits’ “You and Your Friend,” Mark Knopfler’s “The Long Road,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Over the Rise,” Lady Gaga’s “Is that Alright,” some Diana Krall, and some of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
Specifically, the improvements were: substantially wider and deeper soundstage, incredible imaging, amazing resolution, tighter bass, and the ability of the amplifier to react significantly better to what I assume are the transient current requirements. The amp has a high damping factor already, and I believe the Tornados/Niagara/Edison Wall Receptacle combination really showcased this.
The Solid Tech rack is a huge improvement over my "vintage" cabinet-style rack. It's superior resonance and vibration isolation characteristics became obvious almost instantly. Also, I believe my old rack contributed to stifling the soundstage, imaging and detail. Changing to the Solid Tech VASTLY improved all these characteristics - I can't believe what I was missing.
I am in complete agreement that the OREAs make a noticeable performance upgrade. I am also pleased that you [Jeff] convinced me to purchase the three AudioQuest Tornado power cables over the AudioQuest Thunders.
If I’m experiencing such incredibly better sound already, I am looking forward to when all the new equipment is “run-and-burned-in.”
Don’t let anyone tell you that good power cables, wall receptacles, interconnects, power conditioners, isolation products, etc. don’t make an improvement – they ABSOLUTELY do!
If you have any customers who are “on the fence” about purchasing a Niagara, Tornados, an NRG Edison Wall Receptacle, OREAs or a Solid Tech rack, I will gladly attest to the amazing improvements they all made to my audio system.
Many thanks to Jeff and Trutone...
Read moreNice group of guys, treated me like garbage. Bought a $4000 turntable from them a year ago. Realized after that year that they hadn’t set the table up properly and there was an issue with arm lifting mechanism. After trying to pawn it off on the manufacturer (which they’ve done a few times now) the reluctantly suggested I bring it in. A few days after I called them, and learned it was done...the mechanism was fixed and the cartridge had been tightened (guess we forgot to tighten the screws) I went to pick it up. Get it home and while the primary lifting mechanism issue was fixed, the whole thing now didn’t work. Drove back and dropped it off. I called back again after a few days (seeing a theme here? they had my table for over 2 weeks and I only ever got one call) I phoned them, all done. Just about to leave get a call back...oh, not done we wanna talk to the manufacturer...we’ve sent them an email. At no point did the manufacturer call them back or respond to them. I called the manufacturer and got the solution (By the way Bryston is great) which was to send the table to another service centre. They did that...and again I heard NOTHING. So I called the other service provider had a great experience with them (who complained to me about Trutone as well) and found out what was wrong, what had been fixed (one of the things I had told Trutone was never communicated...he found it himself) and that it was ready. Waited a few hours, called Trutone and they said they had no idea what was going on with it (the guy from the other service centre made it clear he had communicated with them) or when I would be able to get it. So, I went and got it. I haven’t heard a word from Trutone and won’t. These guys make their money selling Tv’s and stuff...but all in all one of the most disappointing experiences ever. And...
Read moreI’ve been going to Trutone electronics now for about 20 years now. Ever since I got out of the military. A good friend of mine brought me in there one day and fortunately ……I was hooked!!!! I live in Niagara, and happily make the drive there for their professionalism, knowledge, honesty and quality. Unfortunately most times you walk into a place you feel like you’re getting played. It’s like you always have your guard up and hope that you don’t get taken too much. The salesman, (I’ve recently dealt with Jeff) is just plain overflowing with knowledge on audio/ video gear. I was treated great, and fairly. I find that when I leave Trutone, I’m much more knowledgeable about the product I’ve researched. Just when you think you know a lot about the product you want to purchase, you get absolutely schooled by the guys at Trutone. The integrity they have is rare today. I find that since COVID?….customer service across the board has been just awful. Trutone?….not a chance. They will always steer you in the right direction. Even if you’re overshooting what you want. They will tell you, “for what you want? You don’t need that”. They will give you so many options. I’ve never left Trutone being confused or lost. Just more educated on my purchase. As a disabled Canadian Army Veteran, money is important being on a military disability pension. Trutone will always accommodate your budget and honestly guide you through your choices. They are just simply, a well oiled...
