I am genuinely flabbergasted as to how this restaurant has so many great reviews. The experience did NOT match the prices we were charged. I will never be returning and I urge you to find an alternate dining experience.
I felt as though this restaurant took every single opportunity to cut operational costs and promote aesthetics over comfort. Let me explain. You start your experience by sitting on a literal wooden bench that has your rear end hurting after about 5 minutes. If that’s not bad enough, in the centre of your table lies an ELEVATED grill that scolds you for grilling by flinging burning hot grease from your meats onto your sweaty skin from the uncomfortably hot temperature of the restaurant. The vents on the top are seemingly for show, and they don’t turn on the air conditioning.
The service was also abysmal as our server knew nothing of the spices that were placed on our table and for some reason we weren’t given plates? Yes, just assume I’m comfortable using this small metallic bowl with unknown liquid and cut onions as a plate for the meat I’m cooking. We were also given two complimentary soups for the table of 6? Were we supposed to share two spoons amongst our table?
If you’re entranced by the pictures of the grill and edges filled with sides, just know that gets old very quickly once the table isn’t quick enough to consume it and it all starts to burn. This wouldn’t be an issue if we were given I don’t know.. plates? Good thing we have mystery liquid with onions! For a place that doesn’t marinate the meat and just cuts it quite poorly, why do you only give 3 options for spices? Speaking of options, they also charge 3$ for rice but don’t worry the wilted lettuce is free.
We had ordered the wagyu beef which seemingly had no discernible taste differences comparatively to the short rib which was a massive let down. This is where I had enough and just wanted to leave.
Overall, the experience was horrendous and my stomach hurts. 0/10 would...
Read moreWent here for dinner, tried to call and book a reservation same day, but was advised to walk in, luckily came at around 5-5:30 PM and there were still plenty of seats before it got packed. Tried the barbecue, and the meat is good, but the vegetarian option for tabletop grilling is a travesty for vegetarians. If you can't do it right, then please exclude us, vegetarians from the menu, like the vegan sausage is beyond meat sausage (doesn't blow my doors away), and grilling tofu will just get it stuck on the grill plate without oil. Moreover, the tabletop grilling arrangement is overrated if not inconvenient. If you order too much meat that needs to be cooked, the eggs, kimchi, butter corn, and garlic will get burnt before you can eat it with the meat. Service was subpar, please ensure you always mention your allergies as the service won't ask. We did get a stand table to accommodate for the additional entrées we ordered, but for some weird reason it was taken?? In all honesty, I would come again, not for the barbecue, but for the entrées. We ordered the seafood pancake, squid salad, and rolled omelets. The seafood pancake and squid salad are definitely delicious, especially the seafood pancake! That was definitely the best seafood pancake I've had in a while. The rolled omelets are not worth it though, and my one criticism with the squid salad is that it's slathered with too much gochugang. This is definitely a good place, though, for a hang out with...
Read moreIf I could give 0 star, I would give for the worst service that i have never had at Daldongnae. I have came in Mississauga location many times and even some different locations. And I totally understand today is Canada Day long weekend and expected how busy they were. I just reminded the guy who served my table that I still had one Kim Chi stew and I have been waited for almost 15 minutes. Instead of apologizing me about the lateness. He answered me “you have to wait, it is not McDonald’s here” with the rude tone. I mean we didn’t pay for “that McDonald’s prices” so we deserved to have better services. I work in the service path as well and I never say like that to my customers cause they pay for meals, not ask you for free. I also asked for a marinated pork skin and it didn’t come as it is not shown on the bills as well. Never came back here again!!!
UPDATED: some other locations, the servers came and talked or even grilled the meats for me EVEN THEY WERE SUPER BUSY ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHTS. That was how good services they gave. But in here, they were just ignored about me and our table (4 people). Didn’t ask if everything was ok or anything. Didn’t have any refills for eggs or corn. They were even burned and I had to turn the grills off by myself. Only asked if I was ok when I told the receptionist that I needed to talk to...
