Chateau Piss-Rocket is the greatest golf course within an hour of Ottawa, period! Not only is every hole memorable, the overall golfing experience is second to none. Extremely great value. Very friendly staff. Can’t say enough great things about this place. Only down side is the cart paths are in such a state of disarray, you’ll need to bring a jockstrap to protect your ability to produce children in the future. Ladies will be fine and quiet possibly may enjoy it. With that being said, please don’t tell your friends cause I like being able to play in under 4 hours. Lastly, if you’re someone who has trouble breaking 100, please use the following words as encouragement ; 1) if you shank your ball in the woods and you can’t find it within 45 seconds, move on and drop a ball you cheapskate! 2) if you aren’t Tiger Woods there's no need to get down on all fours and read your putt from every angle before enviably 3 putting. Just hit and hope like the rest of us. 3) this may be the most important of all. A round of golf should NEVER take more than 4.5 hours to play. Play from the appropriate tees and stop wasting everyone time!!! We all suck, just some suck less than others. Overall score 9.1

A fairytale Golf Course nestled in the Papineau Region of Western Quebec. From the onset of our experience there it was as if the course was ours for the afternoon. Msr. Andre in the Pro Shop made my Girlfriend and I extremely welcome. We enjoyed a cocktail on the beautiful patio and explore the Clubhouse before teeing off. The rustic and almost frontier-like appearance of the amenities were amazing to say the least. The driving range is located adjacent to the first hole and gives you a wee glimpse into what you be experiencing when on the course. The course offers shot making of all sorts and tests your ability to manage a tough track that is cut into a lush forest. Because we ventured out on a Tuesday afternoon we happened to be the only people on the course which enriched our golfing experience even more. I would highly recommend playing this course because it allows you to use all the creativity available at your disposal and gives breathtaking views of an absolutely gorgeous part of Canada. We cannot wait to bring friends to the area to enjoy its wonder again soon!

Scenery is great. Course is in OK condition - greens pretty good, fairways not great and tee boxes terrible. Staff was nice but other golfers are a pretty surly lot. Not sure if they also have local members- I'm guessing they do - but not a very welcoming vibe. Also, the course layout just begs for conflict. Many of the cart parking spots for tee shots are within 20-30 yards of adjacent tees so unless you have tour-level accuracy you are likely to be sending balls towards other players. Our round was pretty slow - almost 5 hours which for a short course is pretty bad. We had fun, but not sure if we'll play again during our stay.

I’ve played this course for a few years, great track, very well maintained course, and up until this past Sunday (Aug 20 2023) was well worth the drive from Ottawa.

For everything mentioned above the course is a solid 5/5 stars, but the last 3 times we have made the trip out, the course Marshall (grumpy old man who wears a straw hat with a black stripe) has given us grief. Our tee time was 9:20am Sunday morning, course was wet so it was cart path only on all holes. We ended up waiting until about 9:35 to tee off as we were waiting for the group in front of us to clear the fairway. As we came around to hole 7 (11:25am) the Marshall came rushing down the cart path to tell us that we need to play faster and that we were VERY late? We were a little taken aback as it was “cart path only” and many of the holes are wide spread and require a good amount of walking to get to our balls. The Marshall was not polite about it at all, and basically told us if we can’t speed up that we shouldn’t be playing here. The group behind was a solid 15-20 minutes behind us and the group in front of us were walking off the greens as we stepped onto the tee box on almost every hole. Our round was finished at 1:45 pm, exactly 4 hrs and 10 minutes after we teed off. This wasn’t the first time this near exact scenario has played out with the same Marshall. Either someone needs to buy him a new watch or he needs an attitude adjustment. Needless to say that our group will be thinking twice before booking another round at Montebello as there are many other nice courses in the area with Marshall’s that are much more reasonable and polite.

Edited to add: This doesn’t look like an isolated event as I scroll through these reviews I see a few people have had complaints over the same...

As much as we enjoyed the staff retreat we booked for our staff and the hotel, the experience at the golf course was a disgrace. I played with husband and son on an afternoon and came back to play the next morning. The staff in the pro-shop took as aside before allowing us to pay for the 18-hole game we reserved, and wanted us to comment on an incident that happened yesterday. She described events that absolutely did not happen, such as being in front of people, being talked to by a Marshall, being hit by a ball because we went in front of someone.. which all did absolutely not happen. The problem is the staff kept insisting that this has happened no matter how much we explained that it didn’t, implying that we were lying. It felt that the staff is not trained to handle such sensitive conversation, she implied we were lying and she must have for sure not checked the facts before having this conversation with us. I am so glad my children were not with me, it would have been unsettling. If I had to give a 0 star I would have. I am definitely taking it to management of the hotel and demand an investigation and change of protocol or staff training to prevent such incidents from happening again with...
