Read moreToday was a beautiful sunny (albeit cold day for a sightseeing on top of Mont Royal), but this cross on the top is not to be missed. Having learned the original symbolic meaning of this cross (at Pointe-à-Callière), we made a trip especially to see this cross that has been watching over Montreal since Maisonneuve planted the cross by the Petit Rivière. Needless to say, the sight is majestic and empowering. The hike up is peaceful and very beautiful even in the height of winter. We enjoyed the view and the dancing squirrels that accompanied our every step. The bird feeders along the trail also provided much entertainment and joy to see the sign of spring just around the corner. Mont Royal is a landmark to see when visiting Montreal, but a stopover at the cross on the top is not to be missed. A note for those taking transit: the Peel stairway to Montreal Royal is from the Olmsted trail. The easiest to get there is from the cross to access the trail. We went to the opposite way and went down toward the Lac aux...
Read moreMount-Royal Cross is a brilliant gift to the city.
The cross is really cool and it can be seen from far away as well. It is nice to walk up and see it and it is a well designed and simplistic cross. With LED lights that change from time to time.
It would be nice to see if we could get up there one day or see it from a point of view.
The land around is boring but they should have signs and make it beautiful and the story of why it’s there in the first place.
It would have been nice if they made the cross a little taller so that it could be seen even further away and have a nice view of have a base where you can visit it and they should have an explanation as to why it was there so that many could read it.
All in all, A would reccomend to all visitors...
