A very pleasant surprise. We discovered this place while on a walk and we are very happy we decided to try their pies. We had their original meat pie and meat pie with cheese. The feuilleté makes it very fun to eat compared to a pie dough. It gives a nice texture. The meat filling is very tasty and the the cheese is velvety. They serve it in a paper “container” that makes it really easy to eat with your hands without needing a folk and knife. Being close to a park, it’s an excellent lunch option if you want a simple and good picnic. The grilled vegetables has a good drill taste and smell. No complains for the cole slaw. It’s very filling food so we were not able to finish the side dishes. They have fun imported drinks and some take home items. Their pies of course and some import products as well. I definitely recommend you give them a visit. The young lady serving us was very sweet. We are definitely...
Read moreGreat place to get a traditional New Zealand pie. There is very little spots to sit and eat there but it's never too full so you should still be fine. But what I recommend to do is to order takeaway and go eat on the Mount Royal right across the street. You can also buy frozen pies for home later and they hold up real well. The Indian flavours were a nice surprise addition (curry and butter chicken are by far the best) to the classic flavours (steak and cheese, bacon, mince and cheese). And in the pies with cheese you can actually taste a big slice of cheesy goodness, so it's not just a gooey mix. As a final advice try the imported L&P (lemon and paeroa) soft drinks with your pie for a true kiwi classic! Will definitely be...
Read moreNew Zealand cuisine is an extremely rare find in Montreal..well as far as I know this is actually the only place with New Zealand food. It's owned and operated by an Indian family so there are some Indian varieties of the pies as well. I opted for more traditional varieties. I went for the spinach, egg & cheese as well as the steak & cheese. To my surprise I actually preferred the non-meat pie. The steak was made with a tomato-based sauce that I wasn't loving but didn't dislike either, the density of the meat was more like brisket to me. The pie crust is expertly made and the packaging is smart. The place is very small, only a few tight counter seats available and no restroom but that's just a limitation of...
