Read moreThis spot is awesome! I visited a couple times from Laval with my best pal when we wanted to take a good walk with a nice view not too far from where we’re from! You can see a panoramic view of the entire south side of the city with points of interests marked down. There’s quite a lot of people sometimes tho as it’s a touristic emplacement. The cafe is cute and the drinks taste nice (so do also the pastries). I just wished that for the price of the coffee there, the drinks would be bigger, but they’re not and an equivalent of barely a snack McFlurry cup for a 4,50$ latte is a bit disappointing. IT IS NOT SMOKE FREE and it can be annoying once in a while when you get a big unwanted wiff of cigarette or weed…
The employees were very nice. The cafe is very eco-friendly with its packaging! You do have to climb it on foot or with a bicycle from what I know, so there’s not really parking on that side of the Mont Royal. Although, it’s very pleasant to do with friends and very rewarding once you get on top! Lots of joggers in the morning and cyclists… so just be careful! Very nice experience overall! Cozy chilling spot to be play guitar or hang out with friends and start the day with a...
Read moreLuckily we could take the orange line métro from under our hotel to Mont Royal station and then the #11 bus up to the top of Mount Royal. There was a short 10 minute walk to the Chalet from the bus station. When we arrived it was -11°F/-23°C with a wind chill of -24°F! We spent a little time looking over the city and taking pictures until our phones turned off from the extreme cold! Luckily there was another group near by that was taking pictures as well so we swapped being photographers. It is not easy to ask someone to take their hand out of their warm glove and risk frostbite for a photo but we did it for each other. Then we retreated inside to warm up and appreciate the view from behind glass.
There were adirondack chairs to sit and look out the glass doors and activities surrounding the hall. At 11 a café opened so we could have a hot (and I mean hot) cappuccino and tea. There is also a gift shop and an information office to help plan your visit. It was enough time for us to get warm before we headed back out into the elements to catch the bus back down to the city.
Even with the extreme temperatures it was well worth the visit for an...
