We visited Hana Baby World on a Friday morning from 10–11 AM with our 18-month-old and paid $35.69 for the three of us. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel like the value was there for what ended up being just an hour of play.
The place was very busy — likely due to a group visit from a daycare or school, which made it a bit overwhelming, especially for toddlers. The biggest issue, though, was the temperature. It was insanely hot inside. I was sweating just standing still, and when I asked staff, they said the A/C was set to 15°C… but it was nowhere near that. It felt more like 27°C, and I wasn’t the only parent visibly uncomfortable.
Cleanliness was another concern. As you can see in the photos, the pink and white padded flooring was really dirty — which is surprising for early in the day. The one and only washroom on-site had no mirror and was also already in rough shape. There was a handwritten sign directing people to Walmart if it was “urgent,” which says a lot.
That said, our toddler did have fun — even though she got knocked over a few times by older kids (not the facility’s fault, but worth noting there wasn’t much staff oversight in busier areas).
Overall, it has potential, but we didn’t feel it was worth the price for one sweaty, overcrowded hour. A little attention to cleanliness, functioning A/C, and a better bathroom setup would...
Read moreI brought my 2-year-old daughter here for a playdate with her cousin, and while she was excited to enter, the experience quickly turned into a very upsetting one. As my husband was taking off her jacket at the entrance, a staff member wearing grayish-brown opened the gate. In her excitement, my daughter stepped forward toward the play area with her shoes still on. Instead of calmly redirecting her, the staff member grabbed her by the arm to stop her. My daughter immediately turned back to my husband in tears, clearly shaken and upset. What shocked me even more was that the staff member simply walked away without any apology or attempt to explain her actions. There was absolutely no empathy or patience — something you'd expect as a basic requirement when working in a children’s play environment. This kind of physical handling of a toddler is unacceptable. My daughter was traumatized, and as a parent, I’m extremely disappointed. Children’s facilities should be safe, welcoming spaces, staffed by people who understand how to communicate gently and appropriately with little ones. I will not be returning, and I won’t recommend this place to other families. If you’re looking for a safe, respectful play space for your toddlers, Oh My Land in Coquitlam is a much better option — great value and a far more professional and caring...
Read moreThe play area needs significant improvement. I strongly recommend that staff regularly monitor the play area to ensure that older and larger children are not dominating the equipment or bullying younger kids. There should be clear rules enforced, such as height, weight, or behavior limits, as some parents of bigger, more rambunctious children do not supervise them adequately.
During my visit, staff did not make rounds to ensure the rules were being followed. The play area, designed for young children aged approximately 0-8 years, is small and should have a limit on the number of adults and children allowed at any given time. On Sundays, the space was overcrowded, with only two staff members present.
Additionally, the cleanliness was unacceptable. The washrooms were in terrible condition, with people tracking urine from the bathroom floor into the play area. This is highly unsanitary and unacceptable, especially considering the $30 per child entry fee. Other play areas that charge less provide better supervision and cleanliness standards.
This establishment has potential, but the lack of care and attention to these issues is disappointing. Improvements in staffing, supervision, and hygiene are...
