A nice place to take your kids. My brother and his family have a membership here, which allows you to come a certain number of times a year. Make sure to bring the punch card with you because they don't have an online system to check your membership.

There is an indoor/museum like portion that also has some activities for kids to do. It's about 4-5 rooms. They also have a big train inside and some beautiful paintings. Outdoors there's some really old cars and trucks you can look at. They have a little cafeteria that is very reasonably priced. The concessions are limited - hot dogs, popcorn and ice cream really, but good for a little snack or simple lunch. They also have picnic tables outside and you can bring your own food too.

They have a train ride around the property that even has a stop half way through to go to the playground and look around. You can ride back on the train, or stay and walk back on your own or catch the next train too.

There is a lot to explore. For instance, with my nephew we went to check out one of the trains you could play on, and the pumpkin patch with big sunflowers. We also went into the little houses to see how people lived and worked, as well as the school house and post office. We were there for a couple of hours total, and we didn't even look...

The BC Forest Discovery Centre in Duncan is a fantastic destination for families, especially those with young children. This historical museum offers a unique blend of education and fun, making it an excellent place for kids to explore and learn about British Columbia's rich forestry heritage.

From the moment you arrive, the charm of the Centre is evident. The interactive exhibits and hands-on activities are designed to engage young minds, sparking curiosity and fostering a love for nature and history. The train ride around the property is a particular highlight, providing a delightful way for kids to see the entire grounds and learn about the various aspects of the forest industry.

The staff at the Centre are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to share interesting facts and stories that bring the history of BC's forests to life. The beautiful outdoor setting, with its lush greenery and well-maintained trails, makes it a perfect spot for a family picnic or a leisurely stroll.

Overall, the BC Forest Discovery Centre is a wonderful place to visit. It offers a perfect mix of education and entertainment, making it a memorable experience for children and adults alike. Highly...

I just pulled over to talk on the phone not realizing what this actually was. It was pouring but I did a little exploring and learning about forestry on Van Isl. There is a Duncan information center I think as well. But this seems to represent what in all likelihood was what built most of the communities along with fishing and mining here on the Island. Since moving here 7 years ago I've always been a little amazed at seeing Logging trucks which are all but instinct on the mainland. This is a great way to educate kids on how things were done and if it wasn't they probably wouldn't be visiting there. I like to start with trains and big things to get them all excited and how dangerous these jobs were. I know in the latest generation of kids it's a hard sell with the ecological based society we live in with electric cars ,recycling and pollution regulations. But our forefathers worked themselves sometimes to death to make this country what it is. They incorporate recycling and the new way of life into the past and this past is really not that long ago. Yeah ,it really became a long...

This is the second time that I visit the centre. I love moving trains. We have lot of fun and good memories when we ride on a train. This is a good place bring the kids or the ones young at heart there. The staff are friendly and the place is tidy and well keep. If you want to spend more time to walk around and let the kids running around, bring some water and some snacks. The place is big. There are also a restaurant by the train station in case you didn't bring anythings. The ticket price is reasonable since it's including one train ride. The ride will take you to a new area with some more interesting display and a mini train museum. Please make sure you visit the main building before you leave or while you are waiting for the next train. We learn a lot of new knowledge about our forest industry. It's an interesting place for kids too.

Today, Father's Day, was our family's second trip to the Discovery Center, and was a blast. On occasions like today, they break out the steam engine, which is a wonderful experience on its own, but additionally, there are so many other sites to see. The old ranger station and orchard is one of my favorite spots to check out. The staff are all very kind and welcoming. They are happy to point you in the right direction to ensure you make the most of your visit. Overall, this is a great value for anyone who wishes to learn about the rich history of our forestry industry, and how pivotal it has been in shaping the entirety of Vancouver Island. I highly recommend a visit.

A wonderful place to spend a few hours with the family. We visited with a few other families, and everyone had a fantastic time. The steam train was a highlight—we ended up riding it twice because the kids loved it so much! The playground is a great addition, and the place offers plenty of local history and interesting exhibits. With a concession stand, gift shop, and much more, I was truly impressed by the sheer size of the grounds. They also have a fascinating collection of antique machines and vehicles, which is a must-see for anyone interested in the history of the valley or just looking for a relaxing afternoon. Highly recommended!"
