A TRUE HIDDEN GEM IN DUNCAN!!! While traveling through the island on our babymoon, we decided to stop by this place as it came highly recommended by a local friend. We went for lunch on a Wednesday around 1pm, and I would say it was quite lively for the time of day and week we had visited. You have to enter through Best Western, but do not have to be a guest at the inn to dine at the restaurant. First of all, I really loved the ambience of the lounge - although they had dimmed lighting, the natural lighting coming in from the windows provided perfect balance for a lunchtime visit. The beautiful bar area, string lights and cute touches to the walls gave off a really fun, yet cozy vibe to the interior as well. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. Our server gave us some recommendations and we decided to order the Cauliflower Bites, Seafood Chowder, Chicken & Broccoli Bowl, and the Beef Dip Burger. The appies arrived first, and I cannot rave enough about how good these were! The cauliflower bites were lightly battered and had a really nice crunch without being at all too greasy or heavy. I was quite impressed with the seafood chowder as well, as it was not super salty or heavy as I have had in other restaurants in the past. The seafood tasted very fresh, and I enjoyed the different combinations of flavors I could taste with every spoonful, as the soup consisted of various types of veggies and seafood. For the main dishes, the Chicken & Broccoli Rice Bowl had a great peanut sauce with some very fresh and tender chicken breast. I wouldn't say the sauce is an authentic Thai recipe, but it was tasty regardless! I had a bite of my hubby's burger, and was really impressed at the quality of the patty - super juicy, yet not too fatty. The brioche bun paired perfectly with the texture of the other ingredients, and the au jus (served on the side in a gravy boat) was nice and flavorful and really brought the whole burger together. The server checked in on us every now and then to make sure everything was going okay, and I just had praises everytime she dropped by. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience at CVI and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who may be in the area or passing through Duncan.

Staying in the hotel working for a week in Duncan and there is no other restaurants in walking distance except for Tim hortons and subway. Ordered a 10oz New York strip with garlic prawns that came to 45$. The steak has good flavour because it’s drenched in butter but it has no sear at all, ordered medium rare and it’s well done. Prawns cover up the poor sear and are the same deal. “Loaded potato” is rock hard and cold and came with a teaspoon of sour cream. So disappointed. I wish I went to the grocery store. Work pays for this and I’m exhausted, otherwise I would be going back down to stand in line and return it. Edit: Thanks to the owner for the reply. That really shows that they are striving to improve. I’m not sure how you they will be contacting me but I am staying in room 213. Edit 2: The owner personally came and apologized as their chef was not in last night due to unforeseen circumstances and has now made it right. Wow. Great customer service. Just for them taking the time to do what is right, that deserves 5 stars. I will adjust the review once I place an order later tonight. Hold on for Edit 3. Thank you! Edit 3: Ordered calamari and hot wings. Calamari was cooked PERFECTLY and delicious but sat on-top of a bed of lettuce which steamed in the box so the coating came off. Would suggest even putting some paper in the bottom of the box to absorb excess moisture. Calamari is also not the best choice for take out , I know. Wish the wings were crispy but they had good flavour and not dried out.

AMAZING DINING EXPERIENCE. First of all, I love the newly decorated look of this restaurant. This chic vintage mixed with modern ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable, and there are nice little touches all around the restaurant, which I can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the renovations. And the food was beyond our expectation as well! Tonight (Sunday) was a 2 for 1 Appi night, which is great! We had the Steak Snacks, Honey Garlic wings, Spinach artichoke dip, and the potato skins. All of the dishes were very delicious and perfectly seasoned for my taste. Food came out very fast, and our server, Kenzie, was just delightful! Also tried their Funghi Pizza, which was also amazing! Their homemade pizza crust itself is so yummy, but with the perfect amount of topping and the sauce made it a beautiful dish altogether. There were so many items on the menu I wanted to try, but their portions are quite sizeable, so couldn't order anymore. Thank you CVI for a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be back for more!

Going to the CVI is always a great experience, especially when enjoying drinks with friends. The staff is really kind and caring, always attentive and active, ensuring you have a good time. The club nights are particularly fun and well-organized, making them a highlight of the visit. The food at CVI is also impressive, though a bit pricey, which is understandable given the rising food costs. I’m especially fond of their new menu, which offers unique choices not often found in Duncan, like the Korean fried chicken burger. Their specialty pizzas are another standout, with the Mac n' Cheese pizza being a must-try when it's on special. I would love to see it become a permanent menu item. Overall, the CVI provides a lively atmosphere with great food and drinks, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends.
