Cruising Paradise: A 1000 Islands & Seaway Cruises Review
As the sun painted the horizon with hues of gold and crimson, I embarked on a magical journey through the breathtaking 1000 Islands & Seaway Cruises. Nestled between the United States and Canada, this enchanting region is a treasure trove of natural beauty, history, and serenity. My experience aboard the cruise was nothing short of mesmerizing, and I am delighted to share my 500-word review with fellow travelers seeking an unforgettable maritime adventure.
Setting Sail into Beauty: The moment I stepped onto the luxurious cruise ship, I was captivated by the stunning scenery surrounding me. The 1000 Islands is an archipelago of emerald isles, dotted amidst the majestic St. Lawrence River. As the ship set sail, I found myself spellbound by the picturesque landscapes, each island a canvas of lush forests, charming cottages, and historic castles. The knowledgeable guides onboard enriched the experience with intriguing tales of the region's rich history, from its Native American heritage to its role in the War of 1812.
A Tapestry of Islands: The cruise showcased the diversity of the 1000 Islands, each island offering its distinct allure. Heart Island, home to the legendary Boldt Castle, stood out as an architectural marvel, evoking a romantic tale of love and tragedy. The Thousand Islands Bridge arched gracefully over the waters, connecting two nations, a testament to the enduring bond shared by the United States and Canada. Moreover, the wildlife-rich Wellesley Island State Park served as a haven for nature enthusiasts, offering opportunities to spot eagles, herons, and other winged wonders.
Seaway Marvels: The journey seamlessly transitioned into the Seaway portion of the cruise, where the marvels of modern engineering took center stage. Witnessing massive cargo ships gliding through the St. Lawrence Seaway locks, towering above our vessel, was a humbling spectacle. The Seaway is not just a shipping channel; it is a testament to human ingenuity, connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, and facilitating global trade. The crew's insightful explanations about the Seaway's operations added a fascinating educational dimension to the experience.
A Symphony of Flavors: Amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes, the culinary delights onboard were a true treat for the senses. The delectable meals crafted from locally sourced ingredients showcased the region's gastronomic prowess. Savoring a gourmet feast while surrounded by panoramic views of the islands and waterways was an experience of pure indulgence. The attentive and courteous staff ensured that every moment aboard was a celebration of both nature and cuisine.
Unforgettable Sunsets: As the sun descended gracefully into the horizon, the skies painted a masterpiece of colors, casting a golden glow upon the water. Witnessing the 1000 Islands at sunset is an experience beyond words. The tranquil ambiance, the gentle sway of the ship, and the harmonious blending of colors created a sense of tranquility and serenity that lingered long after the cruise had ended.
Conclusion: In conclusion, a 1000 Islands & Seaway Cruise is a remarkable journey through a hidden paradise. The captivating landscapes, rich history, and seamless blend of nature and engineering make it a must-visit destination for all travelers. Whether you seek adventure, relaxation, or an appreciation of nature's wonders, this cruise offers an experience like no other. Read moreI paid for 4 tickets but 3 of us came and we informed the staff of that so we could have additional space! In addition, we came and lined up 30 minutes early to get good seats because we have disabilities (1 person who had hip surgery, 2 ppl with fragrance intolerance and have Asthma). The top deck was at full capacity when we left and we were comfortable and happy. We had the back seat where the flag is.
Then as soon as the staff person left when the boat started to depart we were immediately swarmed and surrounded by a large family of 8 members who were aggressive and rude who came up from below. They thought they would bully us and take our seats and the rest of them surrounded us and blocked our view. They also smelled and had strong harsh perfume on which affected our breathing and we couldn't have them near us!!!
Why was there no staff positioned permanently on the top deck?
Why is there no procedures in place for people who suffer from fragrance intollerance and asthma which is caused by overcrowding?
The large family was caught by a staff member who happen to come up and check and they were all asked to leave.
Shortly after they left they came back and did the same thing again this time there was no staff around to be found. So I told them there was no seating there and you can't sit there. Then a large man from the family got one foot away from my face and decided to intimidate me and tell me what they were gonna do. To which I replied I asked them nicely to move and I told them there was no seats there and you were told to move by staff and now I'm going to complain. So I left and had to go downstairs to find a staff member to help. Half of them had to leave and half of them could stay there even though we had reached capacity on the top deck prior to leaving. Why was that???
During the entire cruise the man who intimidated me who was asked to leave by staff kept returning and standing right behind me because there was no staff positioned on the top deck.
Our cruise was ruined because you overcrowed the top deck with last minute standing people who paid at the last minute.
And also because the staff had no consideration for people who showed up extra early and stood in line to get a good seats or for our health conditions. There was no staff positioned on top to help us. And all they really cared about was squashing the...
Read moreThe company emailed me asking for a review but unfortunately it was not posted because it wasn't a 5 star review. Here is my experience with this cruise. "I have been on the Thousand Islands cruise in Gananoque and decided to try Brockville. I knew we would be in trouble starting with the women in the ticket booth because they seemed frazzled and not very friendly. We had to wait a long time in line while they organized the bottom deck for their dinner. Then the fun began when they allowed the upper deck to go… we got our seats up close to the front but within seconds people began grabbing their chairs and moving them in front of our family. Throughout the entire cruise there were people standing in front of us and we got to see their heads the entire trip. At one point it felt we were watching Titanic because of the pictures people were posing for. There should have been someone from the company working the upper deck to controlled the chaos. Also, there was no mention of where the lifejackets were located or safety precautions during the cruise . That was the worse $180 spent on my vacation. My advice is book your cruise at Gananoque and enjoy your trip. I regret this decision to book with this company and will not be recommending it to friends. It is worth mentioning that Brockville is a pretty town to visit and if your are looking for a town with a nice view then stop and enjoy the scenery but don't waste your money on...
