Golden Wok Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Ontario

Since changing location and owner the food is disgustingly greasy and the meat in stir frys is slimy ...the assistant manager does not care if you have a legitimate complaint...deep fried foods should not be greasy if the oil is fresh and hot and food cooked in a wok should never be greasy!!!!

We spent $30 on 2 combos and a couple of other things but could not eat past the rice and chop suey. ..the egg rolls were dripping with grease and because the manager could not see grease in the box of the deep fried Wong tongs, she felt there was nothing wrong with the food and she WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY!!!!! She offered me a $10 gift certificate....who the heck needs that when the only constant is grease!!!!! She's a mean vile people and is as cheap as they come....it's all about the money....no Satisfaction Guaranteed....

I would NEVER suggest either of the restaurants because of lack of customer satisfaction and dealing with such a vile heartless witch is NOT worth my money.....if you eat there bring stomach meds and prepare to hurl, unless your a grease eater....totally disgusting and poorly managed business....

Oh and take note on their automated reply to unsatisfied customers....really....sorry....their not sorry they got you money...

I just met with my 82 year old friend in Orillia today. He and his wife dined at your establishment frequently for as long as you have been in business until Covid 19 interrupted that routine. He lost his wife in March. On Sunday, July 31 he went to the Golden Walk when he learned you were again serving dine-in. However, the woman with who he was quite familiar from countless visits to your restaurant told him that because he was alone, he would need to order take out. Dine -in was "not available to him unless he was with someone." She said they could not take up a table for one customer. He replied she should take a very good look at him because she would not see him in the Golden Wok again. He assured her he would share that experience with his many friends and acquaintances. For anyone who has ever dined alone, you know the sometimes awkward feeling of being the "odd man out". To be served such a dish of indignity is unforgiveable. I will never again dine at the Golden Wok and I will discourage anyone else...

People are splendid! Staff are very polite, friendly and courteous.

The situation with covid has made it so you don't get up and scour the food options yourself. Instead, you check off or circle food options from a laminated menu and the staff bring the food to you. This unfortunately puts you at the mercy of the staffs portioning choices and certain items that you likely wouldn't have chosen to stack atop eachother may be mixed upon arrival. They're making due with the unfortunate circumstances, however, so props to them.

The food itself... Very American. Little to no authenticity in the cuisine, which is likely exactly how the local populace likes it. 70% of the menu is deep-fried and sauced after the fact and non of your familiar delicious favourites will be particularly recognizable. All that being said, it was fine.

Know what you're getting into, and settle in for some 6/10 American Chinese food with absolutely...
