My father who is visiting was so excited to look for homemade Polish perogies in Ottawa. This place had great reviews, so we thought we'd give it try. When we entered the empty store, not a customer in sight, I thought I'd take a peek around. Found lots of interesting stuff but no perogies. So I sought out the manager, who was busy on her phone, originally when we entered, although we said good morning. I asked if she had any homemade perogies onsite and she said no. Okay, that's no problem, and did she expect to have any come in. She said no, and proceeded to lead me to the freezer, where my Dad ended up, and happened to be with another helper, chatting away. My dad had opened the freezer door, asking are these homemade ones as he went to grab one of the bags that looked homemade. He was speaking to the other woman. The woman whom I was speaking with, grabbed his arm, threw it and slammed the freezer door shut, and said, NO! We were shocked, we couldn't believe what happened. Not knowing how to appease the situation, we just grabbed a two bags she then pointed at and she walked away. It was the strangest situation, it was a horrible experience for my elderly father and he was so shaken up. We obviously left. Read moreThe store looks closed from the outside, curtains all closed, no open sign, the front door even has like, foil all over it. Turns out they are open, though.
Lots of imported products, prices are good and reasonable. Many of the products had no English label or translation on it, which is something commonly done at most places here. The deli counter has a great selection of meats, and dried fish. I was surprised that there was barely any bread though. Overall the selection wasn't really what I was looking for though, and while I love trying new products, having no idea what many of them are unfortunately doesn't present many options or much reason to go back, unless you already know exactly what you need, or you can read the assorted languages on...
