We'd visited the West Parry Sound District Museum years ago to pass a rainy day camping at Killbear. I was back this time with one of my adult kids on a day trip to Parry Sound. On this visit, the Lions Room Gallery had an exhibition related to the Waubuno shipwreck. The Roy E Smith Room housing more permanent installations has an amazing model train set up showcasing rail history in the area. Several life-size dioramas are present - I think the raccoon might get the pie on the windowsill! The basement gallery is currently hosting a history of the Parry Sound curling club. We had fun playing "floor curling" on the model curling sheet.

A great part of the Tower Hill area (along with the Heritage Garden and, of course, the Tower), the WPSDM is well worth a visit.

I did not go in person but I did contact the museum for assistance with a newspaper article. A young lady name Amy assisted me and although they did not have the article I was looking for Amy transcribed the very poor copy I did have so I was able to learn the information I needed and lord knows my eyes aren't what they used to be. Thank you Amy, your customer service was...

A must visit for the tower view didn’t get the chance to see inside the museum as it was closed. Please watchout for the holidays i will upload in the pictures. From the tower we can also walk around through the forest and reach the rail line you can take great pictures in the rocks. Parking is limited during rush hour. The garden is well mainted with lots of flowers...

The museum was closed when we visited, but the grounds were really nice and we enjoyed the views from the top of the tower. We hiked along the rotary trail to get up to the museum and it was very pleasant. The trails, tower, and museum are fairly simple, but worth stopping and checking out.
