A couple years later and they've moved to a bigger location. Good for them! Still wonderful staff, genuinely helpful and honest. Was here looking for an ergonomic chair and accessories to better my work from home lifestyle.
Was very thorough and in depth about chairs--ultimately based on my needs I purchased a high end ergonomic chair elsewhere.
The staff were so very helpful with my decision making process and indecisiveness. We got help with power bars, wrist rests.
After the time I purchased my phone here I did also get their brand of Bluetooth earbuds--which work great but could definitely have a longer battery life. Then also an Xbox one controller and a little Bluetooth port thingie so we could use the controller for PC games.
Solid place all around still and they're taking good safety precautions with covid.
Great people, good experience, very helpful!
I came here to buy a very specific phone--Asus Zenfone Zoom 3--and they had two left in stock.
My partner and I browsed around for a while after the staff greeted us, then went back to the front desk to actually get what I was looking for.
No hassle, quick purchase; I bought my lovely new phone and was off. I love just a few blocks away and was excitedly setting up my phone.
While setting it up I noticed that the camera was a tad shoddier than I thought it would be; though I still didn't mind because I bought it for the battery life and not the camera quality. I noticed after a while a bit of blue-green at the bottom of the screen that was consistently and there. I tried a few times to reset the phone to make sure it wasn't permanent but it was.
I immediately packed it up and brought it back to the store. Right away when the previous staff member that had sold me the phone noted us. As I just bought the phone half an hour prior. We showed the defects and understandably I was just unlucky and popped open a brand new phone that happened to have factory defects. We exchanged the phone for the other last Zenfone in stock and the staff watched over as I set it all up.
It was perfect! Better camera quality, amazing phone, fast service. Everyone was so kind and patient, I bought the warranty just in case but it's been about a month and the phone is absolutely fantastic.
I've never been happier with a electronics purchase; no one pushed me to look at other items or higher end items. I wasn't coerced or hassled about buying warranty, not the first visit or the next to exchange phones. The staff informed me and I made my own decisions, I'm very glad that they were so courteous.
I would come here again if I wanted a new desktop or accessories for my...
Read moreFirst off I'd like to say that I really appreciate that specialty computer stores exist. I am willing to pay a premium for convenience and local warrant and support. I have also had some helpful advice from some of the techs here in the past.
Recently though, the customer support has not been great. When coming to the store for a computer issue or product search, the staff have been unable or unwilling to help.
For example, when looking for a computer case with more than 3 HDD bays and USB-C support, the staff was not able to offer me with any case options and instead tried to sell me on cases that didnt fit my needs. I had to go home to research more myself, only to discover they had two such cases from well know brands in stock at another of their locations.
For example, when asking about which of their fans were silent, they didnt have any knowledge about which fans were best to sell other than that 'these should be OK'.
For example when asking for what fastest external storage device they had in stock, they tried to sell me a HyperX flash drive, which 1) The corsair and sandisk extreme flash drives at the time are both faster and cheaper and 2) right behind them on the shelf they had the samsung T5 which was at least twice as fast, offered more storage and was significantly cheaper.
For example, when I had problems with a nvme drive I bought from them and asked them to check if they could see whether the drive was broken or if I should have them check my system, they said it would take 3 business days and would cost 50$ to do diagnostics. Checking the drive to see if a full PC diagnostic was even necessary would have taken max 10 minutes if they installed it into a functional system or external nvme reader. When I asked them if they had an external adapter so I could do it at home, they said they didn't carry it.
Also, recently they have been stocking their own brand iCAN with few 3rd party alternatives in stock (eg. For USB-C port hubs.) And I find that these no-name-brand-kind of products they sell have too much cheap plastic and questionable build quality.
It is rare that I come here that they have the most up-to-date product availability and advice on products outside the scope of a basic budget PC.
IMO
If you know exactly what you're buying, this place is fine.
If you have no idea what parts you need or how to build a PC, and don't want to do the research - come here instead of Best Buy for sure.
If you want more detailed computer part advice, tech support, or opinions on carried products that aren't mainstream, somewhere else will probably...
Read moreI will no longer be supporting this company. I will no longer recommend anyone to purchase here and I will never purchase from here myself.
For the record, my disappointment has nothing to due with Covid regulations. They did very well while managing business to stay open during the pandemic. My issue involves their management and their return policies in regards to DEFECTED products.
Three purchases in a row I've had issues with and not one of them was resolved in any way.
Canada Computers return policy is exchange within 30 days of original purchase date for defected items.
1.) Purchased an Arctis 7 wireless headset. ($200 +tax) Charging port stopped working at 41 days. No honor of replacement or credit. Went through manufacturer warranty and got a brand new set.
2.) Purchased a pre-built computer for a streaming set up. ($2799 +tax) Found motherboard wireless antennas missing and nowhere within packaging. Spoke to service desk who contacted management on my behalf. He responded two months later saying that communication had stopped at head management so he ended up giving me antennas ONLY AFTER my latest issue/visit.
3.) Purchased a 27" Samsung Odyssey 1000R Curved monitor. ($799 +tax) 14 Days after using A bright red pixel appeared. After such a quick defect occurring, I decided to bring back to store same day I noticed the bright pixel. (EVEN WITHIN 30 day exchange policy. Which is boldly printed on the receipt).
I wanted to directly speak with management, but the manager had no interest in speaking with one of his customers. The service desk employees response was they will not exchange it as Samsung's warranty policy states no warranty until 8 or more dead pixels appear on a monitor.
After three negative experiences and absolutely no customer service I will begin to support Amazon over this business. Small businesses like this should be paying more attention to customer satisfaction instead of rapid sales margins. I love supporting small and home businesses, but when there is absolutely no appreciation or even ANY effort for customers and providing a positive customer experience, I refuse to support them.
It really is a shame.
I rated 2 stars instead of one because I have nothing against the employees who work at this location. They have nothing but great attitudes and knowledge, but their management needs serious improvement. I wish the employees at this location all the best! Thank you for making my visits pleasurable, unlike your management and...
