🇨🇦 Oshawa’s Hidden Gems: 10 Public Libraries You Must Visit! 📚✨

I am utterly shocked and disappointed by the state of the Coquitlam Library. What should be a quiet sanctuary for reading, studying, and peaceful reflection has become the complete opposite. People openly talk on their phones like they’re at a bar or pub, with zero regard for those around them. Groups gather, loudly chatting without any consideration, and kids are allowed to run around yelling. I’ve even witnessed people dancing and making a ruckus—yes, dancing—in a library! To make matters worse, people are eating smelly food and chewing noisily, adding to the already chaotic atmosphere. It’s unbelievable that a place meant to promote focus and concentration has become so out of control. And the worst part? The librarians seem completely indifferent to this circus. There is no enforcement of basic rules that should make this a functional library. The librarians keep insisting that they provide a “silent study area,” which is basically a closed-off room with no internet connection and crowded conditions, there’s only around 20 seats. This is not a solution! We just need a normal library where basic rules are enforced and people respect the space. Those who want to sing, dance, or jump around can go outdoors or find a more appropriate venue. This is a complete waste of tax dollars—a public facility that is utterly failing to serve its intended purpose. The library is meant to be a quiet place, especially for those who need to study or simply enjoy a book in peace. It’s cruel to think of those people who are forced to endure this ridiculous environment. I truly can’t believe this is allowed to continue, and it’s an insult to the residents who expect a basic level of functionality and respect from a publicly funded space. It’s time the city rethinks what it’s doing with this facility. If this is the future of libraries, then it’s a sad state of affairs. Perhaps Coquitlam Library shouldn’t even be called a library at this point, as it serves none of the functions a real library should.

A Community Gem in Coquitlam Coquitlam Public Library is one of the city’s best public spaces. It offers not only an excellent book collection, but also modern technology, comfortable study areas, spaces for youth and children, and a staff that is always kind and helpful. Their community programs—like book clubs, workshops, and tutoring—are accessible and well organized. The atmosphere is quiet and welcoming, perfect for both studying and relaxing. The availability of computers, printers, free Wi-Fi, and meeting rooms makes this library a priceless resource for students and professionals alike. Coquitlam Public Library is not just a place to read—it’s a true cultural and learning hub for the entire community. Highly recommended.

How do you even call this a library? This is more like kids playground or maybe a homeless shelter. Full of uneducated kids screaming loud while playing online games and eating takeouts in the library. They always mess up the computers with trashes or takeout left overs. The library must ban these kids/students from coming. Literally messing up the whole atmosphere and environment of "library" into homeless shelter. Staffs are very nice and friendly tho but come on, what's the point of having staffs when there's such a mess every time we visit the library? I don't want my taxes to be spent to support those kids playing computer games while them eating take outs. Management should look into this seriously.

Visited this library today and it’s so big and bright! Reminds me of when the City Centre library first opened in Surrey and I was like “whoa,” in my best Keanu Reeves impression 🤣 For real though, this library is WHOA! I love that orange section seating, feels like I’m in a super cool place which I guess this library is. Enclosed are 20+ pics I took from my visit here, including some sunset shots of the nearby Lincoln Skytrain Station and Henderson Mall. Will visit again because I dig the bright and clear energy and space that it is 😊 Update October 6, 2021 there’s a woodworking display at the library so added 3 new pics here

I always enjoy the atmosphere at this library. It is well maintained and there a lot of nice productivity stations for reading and working with computer. There are also several rooms for group study or other activities. Staff are nice. I give it four star for two reason: 1. Number of titles is not as vast compared to other libraries 2. You still need to insert coins/cash to use printer machines. It does not accept card, so you have wait in line to pay at reception and get cash and use in machine. Imagine that in 2022
