I discovered this place about a year ago when heading to the local Michael's and I gotta say I really enjoy it. The food is tasty, the staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is comfortable. It's a smaller restaurant but I've never had trouble getting a seat. Though it may not be the best spot for private/personal conversations - just saying some folks need to be aware of the close confines.
Most importantly they have a "kids size" Ramen option, something that many other Ramen places lack. For me this is a huge selling point as my kid can't finish a full $13 bowl by herself, so having a smaller portion/cheaper option is a huge plus and she loves it to the point of actually requesting it for dinner - which says a lot from a 5 year old. She generally doesn't want anything mixed together but Ramen is always a win!
They have daily discounts on the menu as well, so you can cater your trip to the day where your favorites are on special for extra value.
A word to the wise - I have ordered Ramen from multiple places via Uber/ Door Dash/ Skip before and it isn't the same as eating it in store. Not a knock on the restaurant at all but unless your driver is speedy the meal won't have the same balance of flavors or consistency as straight from the kitchen. I would give the food a 3 star via delivery for this reason alone and highly recommend making the trip to the restaurant itself for maximum enjoyment.
Over all this place has become a regular spot for my family when heading to central Coquitlam, whether for a stroll around LaFarge, a shopping trip to the mall, or any other errands that bring us that way. Heck even just when the hankering hits home it's worth the trip. Overall it's...
Read moreI've seen this store as I'm passing by and read good reviews. Always seems to have people. Finally visited for the first time on a date night. Ordered Mozza katsu and Red Hot ramen. Was surprised to find that red hot wasnt as salty or spicy as I thought it was. Gotta try more Ramen to find if they're all great though. Mozza Katsu is great if you like the cheezy Japanese Katsu. My BF personally thinks its better than any other cheeze katsu place he's been.
Updated: so I returned to this store within the same week to try different menus. Unfortunately they are in the process of rearranging the pasta menu, so pasta wasn't available. My bf ordered Miso latte ramen and I ordered Kimchi Nabe Katsu. This store offers consistency in taste and presentation. Highly aesthetic and appetizing presentation. They do use chicken broth which is deep in flavour. The only downside would be if you don't like too rich flavours... But then... You are in the wrong restaurant if you wanted something that was light and refreshing... I will tell you that if you like the rich flavour, this is definitely the place. The broth slightly overpowered miso in ramen, but I think it was intended (as it was called miso "Latte" ramen). Kimchi Nabe Katsu was tasty but I wish they balanced the kimchi soup and Katsu. They used fatty pork to make kimchi broth which enriches flavor when by itself, but when combined with Katsu, it was a bit oily for me. But my bf (whose got years of experience in working in restaurants) said these people really know how to make katsu. Katsu is definitely #1 recommended menu. I'll return soon to try other...
Read moreI visited Ramen Bella today, drawn in by the cozy vibe and the friendly, welcoming staff. I ordered the double pork shoyu, my wife went with the shio, and my son tried the agedashi tofu, gyoza, and fried squid. After some thought, I also added the fried ebi to our order.
When the ramen arrived, I was surprised—it wasn’t hot. For something that should be freshly cooked, that was an odd start. I made the mistake of tasting the noodles first. They were actually quite good—fresh, bouncy, and cooked al dente. But the soup? Disappointingly bland. It lacked depth and flavor, which really took away from the whole experience.
The agedashi tofu and gyoza were just okay. The fried squid tasted old—that’s really the best way to describe it. And the fried ebi, which came with four pieces, was also lacking in flavor.
I had originally planned to order some frozen ramen to go, but after that meal, I quickly changed my mind. One more thing that stood out—in a bad way—was the chopstick setup. The reusable chopsticks were kept in a dirty, hard-to-clean metal container that was fixed to the table. We opted for the disposable ones instead.
It’s a shame. I had high hopes for Bella Ramen, especially with all the great recommendations I’d heard. Unfortunately, it was not a place...
