I have been to Freeing Canada a few times in the past. My friends and I have done a total of 4 rooms at this location. Today my partner and I went and were quite disappointed. We did the room Unmask, which is best rated for 6 people. Since there were only two of us, we knew it would be tough but we figured since we were pretty experienced that it would still be fun. Iām not sure what happened from August to now, but there seems to be new staff who donāt seem as passionate, or frankly, even care about the experience.
Almost everything in the room (and even the lockers in the front lobby!) was broken. The flashlights we were given barely worked, and we were given the broken piece of a headlamp as a replacement (at least it worked!). We needed a few hints and called the front desk staff in for help. They took their time coming to room even though our time was ticking, and took the time to clean up one of our used puzzles in front of us before even giving us the clue we needed. We found this extremely unprofessional. I of course donāt want to give any hints away, but one piece of the puzzle was supposed to open a door, but we didnāt even know it worked until we yanked on it. If we didnāt assume it worked, we would have wasted one of our hints and the time to figure it out.
The staff did give us extra time considering there was only two of us, which we appreciated, but we still struggled due to vague hints and the staff being generally apathetic. I spent $63 (even though the website said it would be 23 a person) for this evening which seems extremely steep as the quality of the experience has steadily declined. My partner and I have done over 15 escape rooms together and we both agree this was the worst one we have ever done. The staff were nice, and Iām sure it was a one off situation. We have had extremely positive experiences here, so we hope that if we come back, it will...

(updated) - Original review updated after a misunderstanding was addressed by the manager. My extreme appreciation to her for her professionalism and amazing outlook on life.
I planned a surprise 50th birthday party for my wife about 1 month in advance. The staff were amazing and patient as they explained how it all worked. It was our first escape room experience. We had a group of 10. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and great fun for all.
We gathered on February 16 at 4:30 p.m.; a major snowstorm was in effect - I was surprised and grateful that they were actually open. We were the only ones there for the entire night. We waited in the lounge area for everyone to show up - travel was difficult due to road conditions. Our host explained the rules, and we completed our escape experience (Egyptian). The rooms are themed and decorated accordingly, and to a level that was unexpected - very professional. Itās not just about the puzzles, it really becomes an immersive experience. Thank goodness for some hints!
Afterwards we gathered in the lobby again, and my wife opened presents, prior to us going out to dinner. The event was perfect and a very positive and immersive experience for everyone and especially my wife on a very special birthday.
I would highly recommend and will definitely plan another event here. Itās a fun, collaborative, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery unique and surprising take on an escape room, at least from my somewhat limited experience. With their challenging mysteries, Freeing Canada Station made a long-lasting impression.
From the outside, the entrance didnt seem very visible to me. I was surprised to see such a small entrance, in contrast to their quite spacious lobby and high number of rooms. The lobby is vibrant and full of energy with many seating spaces, board games, and a foosball table which entertained our group both before and after the escape room.
The employees are kind and professional. They conveyed the required information to our group from start to finish, they knew exactly how much information to give on hints (not too little, not too much), and they even gave us a do-over because we messed up one part of the mission.
We did the "mission incredible" room and I deeply enjoyed both physical and mental obstacles we had to overcome. There was an initial phase of maneuvering through a lazer field and then solving mysteries to obtain the diamond. There were many instances where we were just stumped, not that the mysteries were impossible to do/too difficult, but they were geniunely well made.
Only downside was the duration. I wouldve loved it even more if the room was more extensive and had more mysteries. All in all, a...
