I quite enjoy this little restaurant, both for their a la carte menu and their Korean BBQ. On their a la carte menu, a favourite of mine is the pork bone soup. As for the Korean BBQ, although they do not have AYCE (which can end up being pricey), the assorted seafood is a great choice, as is the pork belly. The restaurant itself is comfortable, relatively large in size, not too crowded, and not too loud. The booths are roomy and the tables aren't packed in tightly. One of the biggest qualms about Korean BBQ is that most people leave reeking of the smoke, but I've never had a problem here. Yes, there is bound to be a bit of a smell, but as Korean BBQ goes, the scent is barely there after you leave. Service can be a bit hit or miss. The staff expects you to ring the bell on the table if you need them, so they rarely walk by to ask if everything is alright. However, once you ring the bell, they arrive immediately. Some staff have a bit of a language issue, so they're prone to get the order wrong, but they're as attentive and helpful as they can be. The location is also out of the way, so there are rarely crowds in the area and parking is never an issue. It's conveniently located right on Yonge Street, but far enough north that urban dwellers never head up that way. It's a great place to go for either a quick meal or more time-consuming stress-free dining. EDITED TO ADD: They now have AYCE tabletop bbq, so that adds value to your meal.

Food: 4 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Value: 4 Stars Overall: 3.5 Stars I decided to try takeout from Nakwon Korean Restaurant. I ordered the bulgogi ddukboki, eager to enjoy some Korean cuisine at home. The bulgogi was a highlight—it was really well-seasoned and flavourful, a true delight to the taste buds. However, the ddukboki left something to be desired; it lacked the depth of flavour I was expecting, which made it somewhat underwhelming. What I particularly appreciated was the inclusion of a variety of banchan (Korean side dishes) with my order. This added a wonderful touch to the meal, showcasing a range of traditional Korean flavours and providing a nice complement to the main dish. The staff at Nakwon were decent in their service. My order was prepared efficiently, and the pickup process was smooth. While there wasn't anything exceptional about the interaction, it was satisfactory and met my expectations. In summary, my experience with Nakwon Korean Restaurant was a mixed bag. The bulgogi was definitely a strong point, bursting with flavour, but the ddukboki fell short. The variety of banchan included was a pleasant surprise, adding value to the meal. The staff provided decent service, though it wasn't particularly memorable. Overall, there's potential for improvement, especially in enhancing the flavour profile of the ddukboki. kellychan360

Highly recommend! I tried the Richmond location for the first time today and I must say I was impressed! I actually am not even sure why they don’t have better review ratings. First, their service was really great. The main server who attended our table was so nice and friendly. She noticed some of our side dishes were low and just brought out refills without even us asking for more and she kept checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything else and we never had to use the bell to call her. Secondly, their food was good and oh my goodness, their portion was crazy lol my sister and I ordered two bento boxes with bulgogi & kimchi stew and spicy pork & soontofu stew and we couldn’t even finish half of the food!!!! The server brought us many containers to take the left overs home, again, without even is asking for them which was really nice. The place was clean and seemed like they did renovation not too long ago cuz it looked new. This will be a good place for a large gathering since the restaurant is big and has many big tables. I will definitely come back to try their Korean bbq and other things on the menu! I would highly recommend this restaurant :) They currently have a review promo! Visit on June 29, 2025 (around 9:30 PM)

My husband and I visited this location for the first time last night, and while the food itself was great, the overall experience left us disappointed.

First off, the space is nice — lots of seating and a comfortable atmosphere. We were excited to try it out. However, that excitement quickly faded when it came time to place our order. The woman taking our order didn’t greet us or show any warmth. She was chewing food while speaking to us, which felt unprofessional, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t busy. It seemed like there was no reason she couldn’t take a proper break rather than eat during service.

When our food was brought to the table, I was in the middle of cleaning the area and she didn’t say “excuse me” or acknowledge us — just placed the dishes down in silence, very nonchalantly. Throughout our meal, no one came to check on us, even though we noticed them checking on other tables around us.

When it was time to pay, the bill came out to over $70. Despite the poor service, I still left a generous tip — mostly out of appreciation for the kitchen, since the food was genuinely good. However, the same staff member looked at the bill, visibly unhappy with the tip, and walked away without saying a single word — no “thank you,” no “goodnight.”

As a final note: we are not Korean, but I understand a bit of the language, and it was disheartening to hear them talking about us. Everyone else dining there appeared to be Korean, and the difference in treatment...
