Absolutely terrible experience. 15th anniversary stay for my wife and I. The heat didn't work or work well in the room. Got the romance package... There was no info on the website as to what the package had... Called the hotel front desk before booking. I was told a bottle of wine, dessert (upon arrival) and the second night was $100. Booked it. Got an email confirmation. Was showing full price for second night. Emailed and was told it would be $100. Had to ask at the front desk around 8pm if the wine and dessert were coming. Also had to wait at the front desk for 20 minutes because the front desk worker was cleaning floors... Then when I expressed interest in getting the things I paid for... She jotted down the room number and said that it would be brought right up. Back at the room a few minutes later... Same lady brought a bottle of wine and a piece of cake. Same lady! I understand cutting back some staff because of covid... But having the front desk lady be a janitor and a room service delivery person as well is stupid. Ended up emailing the front desk about the heat issue and sent them a sound file of the "emergency heat" fan noise... The heat pump wasn't putting out and heat and the electric fireplace wasn't putting out enough heat to heat the room. Around 7:30pm the front desk called the room and said the only thing they could do is have us transferred to another room... Not a suite like the one I was in... Just a regular room. This was already evening. Happy anniversary. Dealt with it. Sleep was off an on both nights for us because of the noise the heater would make every 5 seconds. When check out time came and we got our receipt... Guess what? Was charged full amount for the second night. Just came to find that 4 days ago there was a picture posted to this Facebook page stating what the romance package entailed... We didn't get to use the robes nor did we get the gift card for the restaurant (which we are at). This isn't the first time we have been to this hotel. We came here this year because our last experience was great. This experience was so bad that not only will we not be staying here ever again.. I doubt we'll be going back to Shediac anytime soon.
Update I had been emailing the front desk (nicely) about a fix to this issue and getting refunded the difference for a week. One email per day. I wasn't asking for anything more than be refunded what I shouldn't have had to pay in the first place. Everyday my emails were ignored. I know this because they have a very fast email response when it's something as easy as "I am looking to give you my money". When I finally received a response... there was no "sorry" or "our sincere apologies"... it was just "the refund is coming... please allow 5 - 10 business days". Customer Service is gone... I mean I would have thought that someone in charge would have sent me an email saying "Sorry things happened as they did... your refund is on the way and here's a coupon for a free starbuck's coffee". I didn't even get the credit for the restaurant....
Read moreI decided to book my best friends that were getting married a room for the night. I paid for everything months ago, contacted the hotel to let them know this was a surprise for the bride and groom and that all i wanted for them was to walk into the hotel get their key and go up to their room. They told me everything was completely taken care of, i also called 3 days before the wedding to make sure this was still the case that everything was taken care of and the bride and groom needed nothing other then their confirmation number and names. This was not the case at this hotel. They had all the information that they needed to get into the room. My credit card was on file, their name was all that they needed, along with a deposit because they could not locate my credit card that was on file. But the guy working told them the room was no paid for so they would have to re pay for the room and the deposit in cash. (note my credit card was on file and everything was paid for) They talked to myself earlier that day too while we made sure that the hotel room was ready and they could just go in and everything was taken care of; they assured me everything was ready and a go. After 20 minutes of not finding anything in the system for the bride and groom, they just gave in and told them they will pay the extra money just so they can get to their honey moon started (this was an extra 350 bucks cash on top of the already expensive room). The man working the counter was using the wrong machine and not putting it on debit and kept calling the bride and groom poor and that they had no money. So they went to the ATM and got the cash, then he would not print out a reciept for them. They both called me super upset about what was happening, and i could not believe it. All i wanted was to use a hotel that should be ready as we called multiple times for the preparation and it was not the case. There was no help from anyone that night, so we called the next morning, we were told that the man was not suppose to ask and that everything was in the system and completely ready but he just could not locate any of it the time being. (He kept playing with the bride and groom while all they wanted was to get to their room). This has to be one of the worst experieces for a hotel, this was their honey moon (you only get 1 night that follows your wedding, everything was going great til this point). I will never recommend a place that accused the bride and groom of being poor, this is just unacceptable. The hotel manager also said there was nothing wrong with the situation and everything was fine. Except the part that they wouldn't have got the room if they didn't pay an extra 350$ even though the room was paid for and they were...
Read moreWe were delighted to stay at the Shediac for 4 nights in August for a wedding and to be with family. Our room was large, sparking clean, and well appointed with a couch, comfy chair, coffee pot, micro, fridge and a veranda with table and chairs. The floors were laminate, which I like better than dirty old carpets. The bathroom was well appointed. The bed was comfy. An adequate breakfast was included. Any hot breakfast is a big plus. The Shediac offered eggs (either a small rubbery frittata or scrambled), and frank sausages. They offered canned type fruit salad, but were not diligent about keeping the bowl filled. The Shediac’s breakfast could stand improvement. If I had paid $80 to $100 per night I would have felt it was adequate, but at $200 per night, it could use improvement. Breakfast shuts down completely at the appointed time (with locks on the fridge etc,) regardless of whether you have finished your meal, so be timely! The breakfast women will not offer you any second chances! The Shediac also has a Starbucks, which is a big plus, especially if you still want coffee post breakfast. The hotel restaurant is good, with amusing live entertainment. We ate dinner there one evening and lunch on a separate occasion. Both meals were fine. I got a massage at the spa, which was great and reasonably priced. I was so pleased, I booked the mani and pedi but failed to pay attention to the costs. I assumed it would be reasonable but they charged me $90 for plain polish (not gel)!! I am unfamiliar with costs in Canada, but this seemed really expensive to me, although they did a nice job. The Shediac also has a laundry available to residents which was a plus for us. I do...
