Yeah, you read the title right. If you’re the type of person that needs more than just a basic place to stay for a night or two; go ahead and pay $500/night at the Best Western (3-star hotel) down the road. There’s no point for you to check into the Dolphin Motel and pay what you are paying, just to complain about it being “old” or “tired” or “in need of renovations”. I have no affiliation with the Dolphin Motel other than just having stayed there. It quite honestly is probably the absolute cheapest place to stay in Tofino, especially on a summer long weekend.||||Other than price; you most definitely get more than what you pay for. Our room had a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, TV and Wi-Fi. Yes, it absolutely is not the prettiest place you can stay; but the owners are incredible and do not price gouge like all the other businesses (see Tofino Motel Harbourview [$339/night for a motel]). The room smelled old, but was otherwise tidy and had clean bedding. We have made a habit, nice hotel or not, to check for bugs, and we can happily say that we did not find any. Bathroom was very clean, and tub surround appeared to be new? ||||Definitely not the place for everyone, especially not those that are looking for a luxury hotel; which this is not. (To the person that left a review saying it doesn’t have a “luggage holder”, what is wrong with you, did you also want room service for the price you’re paying?)||||Owners are super helpful, nice and I have observed them tending to the bushes and sweeping the outside of the motel; signs that they clearly care about their property. Sure, it could use a “refresh”, after which I am sure the price per night would skyrocket to match all the other hoity-toity places in Tofino. Don’t stay here if you’re pretentious, just so you can complain...
Read moreProbably one of the worst beds Ive ever slept on the mattress was super hard and the pillows too. The room got so cold at night I woke up in the middle of the night freezing and a sore back. I had to put on sweat pants and a sweater. The tub had hair in it so I don't think it was cleaned before I got there. I read the reviews before coming and they all said it was good "enough" to sleep because who are we kidding coming to Tofino and staying in a room the whole time! Yeah right! But definitely was not worth it. The beds are super hard (the one I got- rm14) and had a horrible sleep the 2 nights I was here (june11-13). The last night was a bit better because I remembered how cold the room got and wore sweats and my sweater. So if you are staying here bring a foam or something to put on the mattress and blankets from home. There is an "extra" blanket but that is also super thin and not very warm. The blankets are thin so not much for covering with - like you're covering up with 2 sheets. The bed gets a 1 star but the room it self besides it being an older area and needing updates it was fine! But I will say that the cleaner refolded my dirty towels and put them back on the rack, which I thought was weird. How could you tell? I brought a white towel from home and used it to clean up a spill and hung it to dry and then when I came back my towel was gone so I just assumed they thought it was their's and I'd have to say goodbye to a towel, which no big deal but the next morning when I went to grab a towel I noticed the same dirty spots on it when I grab a "clean" towel from the rack. The walls are also very thin so you can hear everything. If the beds were a more comfortable I would totally recommend this place but because of the beds not worth the price tag...
Read moreOur Group rented 2 rooms based on availability, price and reviews. In short felt completely ripped off at $456 for 2 nights for 2 beds in room 9. They show no sign of shame and certainly don't put a penny back into theit motel. When we entered we were appalled and quickly called around but there wasn't a room to be had for under $250 at which point even had we left we would have lost our payment. It was the beginning of a National Lampoon Family Vacation. Paint is peeling off, a gap in the entry door that small critters can go through, rust on the outside of the bathtub. A .99cent towel rack that had been rehung no less than 6 times before and was about too again. no matching door/hinge hardware. No shampoo, beds weren't made and coffee pouch replenished next day. Sand on the vinyl floor. Bed spreads were clean but from the 80's. Water was warm and clean. I was embarrassed and it spoiled that leg of the trip. The next day I expressed my concerns and received a confused look with "no understand". My family members from oversea were in room 11 and had a worse experience with neighbours from crackville waking them up at 3am by a husband banging his fist on his door screaming profanities to his wife of "I'll cut you're f_____g throat if you don't let me in b___h! Needless to say my newlywed cousins were so shocked they simply left the motel the next morning. The Dolphin Motel is a hole at best, but will keep you dry...
