Massey Centre for Women is an amazing organization. I was a client over a decade and some years ago. At the time I was with them they offered their services to young mothers and expecting young mothers. Supervised setting for their residence. I was referred to the townhouse section, since I had a child. I am not familiar with the residence program for expecting mothers. They provide temporary residence until you have completed your secondary school diploma or have found a safe place to move into. They offer services to attain your secondary school diploma and they also help with applications to post secondary schools. Child care services is also on the premises. Clients also have access to the donation centre on site to help assist with clothing for mother and child, as well as other associated items that they may need. Counselling and parenting classes was beyond helpful when your about to be a young parent. This organization was extremely helpful for me. I hope they continue to help other young mothers as they did for me.

I hope this was...
Read moreWhen choosing a daycare, every parent wants to feel confident that their child is safe, protected, and well cared for. Unfortunately, my experience with Abiona Centre has been the complete opposite. On September 2, I picked up my son from their care and was shocked and heartbroken to find that he had a deep gash on his ear along with multiple cuts and scratches around his head. Not only was he in visible pain, but the daycare staff failed to notice or report any of these injuries. There was no incident report provided, and when I asked what had happened, no one could explain how he had gotten hurt. It was clear that proper supervision and attention were not being given to the children — a fundamental responsibility of any childcare provider. What made this situation even worse was the response from the daycare director. Instead of taking accountability or investigating the situation, she tried to dismiss the injury by saying the sliced ear was "marker", despite the obvious fact that it was not. This type of response shows a complete lack of care, professionalism, and respect for the wellbeing of the children and their families. This is neglect, and no parent should ever have to experience the pain of seeing their child injured with no explanation — especially in a place where safety and trust are supposed to...
