Scammers and Rude Staff Avoid Albion Islington Medical Clinic
I had a terrible experience at Albion Islington Medical Clinic, and I want others especially refugees and newcomers to know what really goes on here. This place is unprofessional, rude, and seems to be scamming people who donât know their rights.
The receptionist, M.P., was extremely rude and unhelpful during both of my visits.
In February, I went in to get my refugee travel document signed. The receptionist was extremely rude and didnât even know how much it would cost. She made a phone call, asked around, and then suddenly told me the fee was $75 even though there was no pricing posted anywhere for that service. I trusted her and paid the full amount.
This week, I went back to get the same document signed. But this time, I had done my research. According to the official Government of Canada website, guarantors including doctors are not allowed to charge a fee for confirming identity or signing a travel document. It clearly says: âYour guarantor canât charge you money for this.â
When I told her that, she started saying something about how âmedical and immigration are not connectedâ basically trying to make it seem like the rule didnât apply to them. But she had no proof, no documents, nothing to back that up. How am I supposed to believe her when she has nothing and I have the actual facts?
But when i tried to explain to her she got defensive and wouldnât let me speak. She snapped, âThereâs a charge,â in a rude tone, then said, âHold on, let me check,â and started talking to the receptionist beside her and calling someone, still not knowing what she was doing.
Eventually, she pointed to a form taped to the wall that listed service prices. It was a printed sheet, but right under it, someone had written in pen: âTravel Document (passport only) -$45.â That handwritten part was not there back in February when I first came. It was clearly added recently to make it seem like thereâs an official charge.
When I brought up the fact that I was charged $75 before and now theyâre saying $45, I asked about a refund for the difference, and she flat-out refused. She became even more aggressive while raising her voice and told me, âIf youâre not going to pay, then leave.â
I also mentioned that someone I know had come in just a week ago, got the exact same document signed, and wasnât charged anything. The receptionist asked me for that personâs name, saying, âWe can look her up.â But I told her no, thatâs not my place. Iâm not going to give out someone elseâs name like that. And honestly, Iâm not a snitch. When I refused, she basically called me a liar and said, âThen how can we believe you?â
That was the last straw. I walked out. I would honestly rather pay more somewhere else than get anything signed at a clinic that disrespects people and ignores government rules.
This place is either completely clueless or intentionally scamming people, and both are unacceptable. The staff are rude, dishonest, and treat you like youâre the problem.

From the moment we arrived, she treated my nephew with such kindness and gentle care that it immediately put us at ease.

Today, my parents and I visited Albion Islington Medical Centre at 968 Albion Roadâa place our family regularly turns to for care, whether it's for my sister, her children, or our parents. Each visit has been met with professionalism and kindness, and today was no exception.
We had the pleasure of meeting Mona, the ultrasound technician, and I must say she left a lasting impression. Mona is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable in her field, but also incredibly warm, respectful, and well-mannered. Her gentle nature and thoughtful approach made us feel truly cared for.
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the entire team at the clinic. I understand that you interact with countless patients every day, each with their own temperament and concerns, yet you continue to treat everyone with patience, compassion, and dignity. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

   Read moreReceptionists are belligerent and Disrespectful. Owner Moe (who also owns ER X-RAY and Ultrasound) is offensive and Refused to provide us legally entitled copies of our reports. He was yelling at customers, threatening us if we complained about his bad service and evidenced Bully tactics. Doctors didn't answer our questions , and Refused to provide us our legally entitled reports. We were made to make Multiple visits for same issue. Apparently, the owner and doctors are interested in repeat billing from ohip cards, by clocking more visits from patients, and Abusing the system, and scamming for money. Washroom was filthy. Complaing to the owner Moe (who refused to provide his last name, or complete name, I. E. No Unique Identifier, No professional accountability) is of no use. He evidenced Vindictive Reprisal and Intimidation against us.
Our phone messages were never returned. The phones were not answered during business hours. The voicemail box was "full " whenever we called. The receptionist kept repeatedly interrupting us, when we endeavored to answer her asked question. She Claimed that she was too busy to listen to us. We were placed on - hold for over 20 minutes, and then disconnected. Owner Moe and receptionist abruptly hung up on us , after making us wait indefinitely.
This owner Moe has demonstrated a Modus Operandi to become defensive and blame the customers with personal accusations which are baseless, in order to cover - up for his exhibited lapses, instead of proactively correcting the problems. And, then because he has complete disregard for professionally mandated patient welfare, he has been known to get false and fake positive reviews posted by his various cronies, using fake accounts.
