As both a graduate and a student, Convocation Hall holds a special place in my heart as a remarkable venue on campus. This stunning hall offers a grand setting for ceremonies and lectures alike, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who enters.
One of the remarkable features of Convocation Hall is the abundance of seating available. The hall is spacious and can comfortably accommodate a large number of attendees. Whether it's a convocation ceremony or a captivating lecture, there is ample seating for everyone to find a spot and settle in.
For the best view of ceremonies or lectures, I highly recommend sitting on the ground level. From there, you can fully immerse yourself in the experience, with a clear and unobstructed view of the stage. The atmosphere is intimate and engaging, allowing you to feel connected to the proceedings.
While the highest level of the hall can be an exciting place to sit, offering a unique vantage point, it's worth noting that the views can be compromised due to the distance from the stage. If the visual aspect is crucial, it's best to opt for a seat closer to the action.
The architecture of Convocation Hall is truly captivating. The intricate details, soaring ceilings, and elegant design elements create a sense of grandeur and awe. The hall exudes a sense of history and importance, elevating the significance of any event held within its walls. Moreover, the presence of a large organ adds to the ambiance, making it even more memorable.
It's important to note that while Convocation Hall is beautiful, it can get quite warm, especially during a full house. Though air conditioning is in place, it's advisable to dress appropriately for the occasion, considering the potential temperature variations.
In addition to its architectural splendor, Convocation Hall maintains a high standard of cleanliness. The washrooms are well-maintained, reflecting the care and attention given to the overall upkeep of the venue.
I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to visit Convocation Hall, even if not for an official ceremony or lecture. Its beauty and historical significance make it a must-see location on campus. Whether you are a graduate, student, or simply an admirer of remarkable architecture, Convocation Hall offers a unique experience that is sure to leave a...
ย ย ย Read moreThe Convocation Hall is this kind of circular building built in this older type style (I don't know the word for it, it's unique). The inside feels small, yet large when you see all the people sit in it. The building is over 100 years old.
We came here to see the people and my sister graduate. The whole event was line up with ticket to get in (ticket gets scanned), then get directed to your seats (including extra seats for your friends/family). While everyone is getting seated, you get to listen to this small group of live jazz musicians play, well, live jazz (very good jazzy music). Once everyone is seated the organ gets played. Then the ceremony starts (the speeches, the Latin speeches and translations, etc). The calling up of each graduate and applause/cheering for each one.
What a great convocation ceremony! It's very long for the University of Toronto Scarborough campus (art, science, business/administration). The guy who pronounced all of the graduates names did very well! He pronounced some very difficult names with ease.
Overall, a good experience. Very happy to be there for my sister and the graduates. A fun time. Afterwards, everyone left the building to go and take pictures outside. Side note: seats have no padding whatsoever, so be prepared to have your...

Im 6', tall, but no giant. seating rows were to close together, was SO uncomfortable. I literally couldnt sit normally, with legs in front of me, cause next row was WAY too tight to me. so HAD to sit with legs spread, same with people on either side, so knees against strangers, so akward. AND wall mounted lights were so bright and in my eyes,, like they werent pointed and filtered directly at the stage right. need covers sleeves of some sort, to filter the bright light straight at the stage and not in the eyes of viewers who payed good money. was SO excited to see comedy bang bang, and all this really took the enjoyement factor out...
