Giggles Playland Inc Scarborough's Best indoor playland — Attraction in Toronto

I had booked and paid my deposit for my daughters birthday, in February 2020 to have the party set in April. The pandemic was then shortly announced in March 2020, I contacted Giggles immediately asking what were the next steps were. They said “Hope your well considering the horrible pandemic we are all going through. Please note we have been temporarily shut down by the government because of Corona 19 pandemic unfortunately we're not at the office all parties are cancelled until further notice we will contact you after everything has been reactivated” - after this email reply from them, I never heard back despite my attempts calling/email thereafter. No one has contacted me since their reactivation, and I never received my deposit back for this cancellation. I understand there is a policy in place in terms of cancellation, however considering the circumstances and never being contacted I believe it should have been automatically returned since the reason for an automatic cancellation was out of my hands/theirs. Especially since no one has contacted me since their reopening. Again, as time passed I attempted to call/email with them and did not hear back so I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Not a very great experience... My friend had her kids 4th birthday here . First of all everything is ridiculously over priced. Might as well go to Chuck E Cheese... About 30min in there was a power outage to the whole area that lasted about 20-30min. This obviously isn't the owners fault but the way he handled it was terrible. He gave her more tokens which basically added up to $40 off of a $600 party! the timetable was completely screwed up because of the power outage, the kids barely ate any of the pizza that my friend had to pay the owner extra money for due to the timetable. If he had offered $100 off we wouldn't have been so annoyed and all the parents there would have seen how amazing this guy is when it wasn't even his fault. nobody thought his offer of tokens totaling $40 was even close to generous and I don't think anybody that was there today will ever be going back again. as a personal message to the owner I'd like to say that if you were more generous the joy that that would bring parents would make them want to come back to your establishment but instead you just had a party of kids and parents see why they would never come back...
