Terrible Experience at Shoppers Drug Mart in Toronto
I recently visited the Shoppers Drug Mart in Toronto at CF Eaton Center to get Tretinoin cream, but my experience was beyond disappointing. Upon asking the pharmacist A. Chen if the product was available, he asked for my health card and insurance details, which I promptly provided. After saying he would assist another customer first (which I understood and waited patiently for), I handed over my documents once again. While entering my details into the system, everything seemed fine until just before checkout, the pharmacist suddenly told me to look around the store and come back in 10 minutes. I asked if he really needed that much time since the process seemed complete, and he curtly replied, "You're not the only customer here." His tone felt unnecessarily rude, especially given I had already been waiting patiently.
To add to this poor interaction, I spoke with the store manager Nimish about it, but instead of addressing my concerns, he dismissed them, saying this happens a lot and the store is often busy on Friday evenings. When I asked if others had complained about this behavior, he said no and claimed the pharmacist must be busy. Then, things took a turn for the worse when the manager randomly asked me where am I from and if I was Indian. After I replied no, he rolled his eyes and glared at me angrily, which was very uncomfortable. To my shock, he then suggested checking my bill and insurance information to verify my ethnicity.
When the store manager Nimish eventually asked the pharmacist A. Chen to complete my transaction, the pharmacist refused, prioritizing another customer who had just arrived. I had been waiting patiently, and yet he wouldnât even cash me out. After I expressed my frustration and asked him to either complete the transaction or cancel the order, he finally cashed me out.
To top it all off, the store manager Nimish then started speaking to me in Hindi, which I donât understand, and said he was only asking about my ethnicity to help me. I still don't understand how that would help at all. When I pressed him on this, he simply folded his hands and walked away.
This entire encounter felt deeply unprofessional and, frankly, racist. I would strongly advise others to beware of this location, especially given how dismissive and inappropriate both the pharmacist and store manager were. Their attitude made an already frustrating situation much worse, and the racial undertones of the conversation were...
Read moreLeft the store in tears. Wish there was a negative star rating. I entered this boutique with my friend, and was instantly scanned up and down by several cosmeticians, with no acknowledgement by any of them. Two stood behind the cosmetic counter chatting and staring at my friend and I while glaring. I went to the St Tropez section and picked up two bottles, each priced at $56. Immediately after they realized I wasnât poor, I was bombarded by the skincare demo lady, âREADY TO CHECK OUT?â She said inches from my face. I was completely taken off guard, as I had been in the store for less then a minute. ââNo, not yet.ââ I continued on in the store with my friend as she was looking for certain products as well. âIâll take those to the front.ââ Another cosmetician said seconds after the first. ââNo thank you.ââ I said, as I decided I didnât want to deal with their snotty glares anymore. ââCheck out with us.ââ She added walking away. My friend was very uncomfortable, so we decided to continue our shopping in the regular sections of the store. I grabbed a third bottle of St Tropez on my way, as my store doesnât carry this particular one. The second my foot touched the other side of the store, an ignorant red head stormed up yelling, âEXCUSE ME, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE BOUTIQUE WITHOUT BUYING YOUR THINGS HERE.â I was absolutely disgusted and enraged that she would have the nerve to speak to me like that. I work at shoppers as a cosmetician myself and would NEVER treat a human being the way she did. I know exactly why they were suddenly so interested in my presence and that was them making commission off my products. Absolutely not. The red head called the manager to follow me and my friend around the store. I checked out at the front, where the cashier was equally as ignorant once she found out I was staff. She incorrectly rung through my products and refused to take responsibility for her error, studying my ID several times. I felt like a criminal. I may be an employee in ANOTHER CITY, but I was just a casual shopper that day. I approached the male manger at the end and spoke to him, because I could hear the red head loudly talking badly about me. Very kind manger, and he took me to the back to speak to the cosmetic manager. She was extremely apologetic and extremely sweet and understanding. I feel awful that this is the staff she has, she clearly deserves better. I would NOT recommend stepping foot into this store unless you are dealing solely with the...
Read moreBrought Lancôme products at this location on May 9th 2024. They have a gift package event for purchases over $69 dollars. After I purchased the product, I asked the sales lady for the gift bag three times before she gave it to me. When I got home, I found that the scarf in the gift bag was missing, and there was also a lack of samples that I usually get when shopping, so I went back to look for her.
When I came back today I was greeted by a gentleman, after I explained the situation, he gave me the missing scarf, which I was grateful for. When I asked about the sample, he said I had to find the LancĂ´me salesperson who served me that day. I showed him the receipt and he helped me find the sales lady.
When I explained the situation to the sales lady , she said very impatiently that â I don't make samples and I can't give them to you.âI said that usually after purchasing beauty products from shoppers, customers would receive some samples. She said that we never had anything like that. I thought she was a newbie and didnât know much about the situation, so I searched online for some photos of samples and gift bags taken by others and showed them to her. She said that they got these samples from other places, and your friend just put them together for a photo and sent them to you. I said no, I found them online, not of my friend. Everyone has it.
And she got very angry and took out the sample from under the counter and threw it in front of me and said âif you just want the sample, you can ask for it directly, there is no need to ask for it in this wayâ and left immediately after saying that.
As a royal customer who has been shopping at Shoppers for more than 20 years, I have never seen such rude sales. Although it is my first time to shop at this location, I do not believe that this location has never give their customers samples after purchasing Beaty products. Very disappointing...
