I always state in my reviews that I am hard to please. Five stars means it was perfect in every way. This hotel would get 4.5 if I could. They lost points for the experiences we had at the hotel bar/restaurant. Which I will outline after the positive stuff.
The hotel is simply elegant without condescension. It felt exclusive without pretention. The room was perfect. Service at the front desk was polite and efficient. The service at the breakfast restaurant was stellar! Valet and doormen were all just fantastic as was the concierge. I will absolutely be staying here again.
I will, however, avoid the bar. We went there on two different nights and both times service was lacking. The first time we were left standing in the entry wondering if we just seat ourselves or wait to be seated but eventually we were greeted and seated in a far back corner under some stairs. The waiter who seated us immediately walked away. We weren't given menus. We waited about five minutes and realized no one was coming so I went to the bar and asked for a menu. We sat back down with the menies and waited a really long time before anyone ever came to take our orders and then he only asked what our drink orders were. I informed him we were ready to order out meals as well. I had the Reuben and my son had the small cheese and crackers platter. I'm not sure what they did to the grapes on his platter but they were shriveled, sour (not sweet) and quite gross. I believe they cooked them or brined them???? No clue they were vile. The next bad experience at the bar was when I was going down for some alone time to relax. I was immediately greeted when I arrived and was informed half the bar was blocked off for an event that was happening later that evening. I chose to sit by the windows in a club chair. Service was prompt. This time was given a bowl of mixed nuts (something we didn't get the last time we were there). No matter because they were stale. I order a beer and an olive tapas. After my food arrived I settled in to relax, take a few calls and read some email. I had eaten a few olives when the waitress informed me that I. 15 mins she'll have to move me to another location because the table was reserved. I looked around the table top and so no reserved sign. I told her I'd just leave. She insisted she can put me at another table pointing to one by the bar and entry.. louder, less remote and no view if the street. I declined and said I'd be leaving. The next evening I asked if I could reserve the table by the window and was told they don't...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Omni King Edward this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out we were treated so well. Every staff member was incredibly polite and always had a smile on their face! Tyga, at the front desk, was very kind and had a treat sent up to our room for our anniversary.
During our stay we visited the Makora spa and it was an incredible experience. We left feeling so relaxed and light. Julia at the welcome desk was the most lovely, helpful and personable person we met during our whole stay. She made the begging and end of our spa experience most memorable. Our RMTs, Emilija and Daniel, were equally fantastic and great at what they do!
At the Victoria cafe we had breakfast both mornings of our stay. The menu was extensive and beautifully put together! Everything we ordered both days was beautifully presented and delicious! Our server (both days) was Dey. Dey was incredibly attentive, kind and a fantastic server.
We went to the Consort Bar on the first night of our stay for some drinks before turning in from a long day of travel. We ended up staying hours longer because of the incredible service of our bartender, Akel. This man's bartending abilitys and personality is straight out of a movie. He was professional, funny and very knowledgeable. We honestly didn't go back the second night because he wasn't working and we didn't believe anyone could top his stellar personality.
The location was perfect, we expected to take our car around during our stay, but we were withing a 20 minute walk to everything we did.
Overall, I 100% reccomend choosing the Omni King Edward for your next...
Read moreI do not give out full 5's often, but this establishment is more than deserving!
This hotel is steeped in historical beauty maintaining its heritage while incorporating modern touches and amenities. Beginning in the stunningly decorated lobby—everything about this place exudes elegance and sophistication.
A truly delightful experience, from check-in onward we were treated like royalty. A highly attentive front desk agent kindly explained that by signing up for the Omni Select program, I would immediately receive the benefit of free high-speed internet. I went ahead and signed up. We received a complimentary drink and I had a $25 voucher to spend in hotel also.
The Consort Bar is where we had a drink, very comfortable seating, relaxed atmosphere and a great mixed nut selection was served-lovely. The next morning I had a wonderful breakfast in the café. The rooms are massive, no need to purchase an upgrade unless you really want to splurge. Service everywhere was top notch, everyone including floor chambermaids greeted us with hello’s and smiles.
The hotel is not in the busiest part of downtown yet accessible to many attractions, including the St. Lawrence Market a few blocks away. The vibrancy of the Yonge street area is visible from the hotels front door and . . . a real gem of restaurants are located just around the corner on Colborne Street. I highly suggest checking these out, see my other Google reviews for just one or two of my favs.
I will never stay anywhere else again when visiting...
