I stayed at the fanciest hotel EVER — @stregistoronto — for my birthday!! Fun fact: Did you know it’s the only hotel where EVERY room gets a personal butler?! That means my mommy didn’t have to do ANYTHING (except show up). The concierge got us tickets to the ROM museum and gave us a whole list of fun places to go — they even delivered it to our room! While we were out, our butler made the best surprise EVER: a birthday cake + a teepee full of stuffies just for me!! My mommy was super tired so they set up lavender bath salts and hot tea so she could chill. Soooo fancy. Everyone was so nice too. We missed the 6pm champagne toast (because my mom is NEVER on time), but everything else was perfect! My mom said we’re going back! If you’re a mommy and want a relaxing stay with a butler — go to St. Regis! #BirthdayTrip #StRegisToronto #ButlerLife #ToddlerTravel #LuxuryStay #FamilyTravel #KidApproved #HotelGoals #TorontoWithKids #MomLifeHack

Possibly one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at. However, I can’t give full 5 stars to Hotel St. Regis Toronto for reasons that I’ll explain later. On the subject of location, the Hotel St. Regis in Toronto is in a very fantastic location in downtown Toronto with many of the city’s main sights and attractions (CN Tower, St. Lawrence’s Market and Yonge-Dundas square) all within short walking distance from this hotel. Readily accessible through RideShare apps too. Regarding staff, they were super friendly and helpful, in our experience. We initially had some debit card issues at check-in and admittedly, we should have been better-prepared for the credit card culture in North America. Thankfully, St. Regis were very flexible and our debit card issues were eventually resolved. I’m truly impressed by how accommodating St. Regis are for those of us who are from places that very rarely use credit cards. The offer of complimentary water at check-in was also appreciated. The housekeeping team, especially the Filipinos, were very thorough, kept our suite spotless and respected guest privacy. And on check-out experience, this is where St. Regis Toronto loses points for me. The check-out process took way longer than what is typically expected especially for a 5-star location (should be <10 min but took about 30 min for us). Unfortunately, a bit of the little time we have left in Toronto was wasted. What’s also disappointing was this time, there was no offer of complimentary drinks (even tap water, which is free and generally safe to drink in Toronto) while we wait. Admittedly, the staff seemed overwhelmed and visibly stressed during the time we were trying to check-out but I hope the situation improves for the St. Regis Toronto team in the future. In summary, the atmosphere was magnificent and luxurious. These two words came to mind when we first entered the lobby. The grandiose look of Hotel St. Regis in Toronto permeated the whole building, from the hallways to our suite. In terms of our room, we booked the Grand Suite which was on the 28th floor and the views from up there, especially at night, were phenomenal. Our suite was very spacious and generally had plenty of storage room. St. Regis Toronto also loses some points here when it comes to storage since we found that there was insufficient storage space for cold items and there was no freezer either. The heated floors and the walk-in shower were also fantastic. The accent wall, mood lighting, clever use of marble for the room design and chandeliers were wonderful touches too, contributing to the luxurious atmosphere of this hotel. The living area of the Grand Suite was our favourite area, especially at night. I’m going to mention the views from the Grand Suite again as they were truly spectacular. On the online engagement. at the time of writing, I found the lack of engagement by St. Regis Toronto with online reviewers here at Google disappointing. I think the hotel should make more of an effort to engage with both positive, neutral and negative reviews online. Customer feedback is a goldmine for continuous improvement. And the all-important subject of sustainability, St. Regis Toronto’s efforts at being more socially responsible and caring for the environment was noticed. We appreciate how they encouraged guests to segregate waste from recyclable to non-recyclable. Other luxury hotels could learn from St. Regis! Summary: Overall, despite the poor experience at check-out and the lack of cold storage space in our suite, I am still giving Hotel St. Regis Toronto four out of five stars, based on all of the positive reasons I outlined above. I still recommend them but next time, I hope that the check-out process is quicker, more streamlined and extra efforts should be made to keep waiting guests happy.

Overall I was not very satisfied with this hotel. Would I stay here again? Probably not. That's not good for a hotel. With the calibre of this hotel they should be doing more, and that goes beyond being nice to every customer, it also includes not charging $8 for a tea that is free in the spa.

The lobby is unremarkable and I was expecting something larger. The doorman, valet also seem like they're only looking for tips.

The deluxe, city view room was okay. It was very clean - which is the first thing I look for. It was good to see the sheets were freshly laundered (these days you just don't know if they even change the sheets between guests - and it's a fact that some hotels do not). I checked for any signs of bed bugs and there was none. The bathroom was large, so was the tub and the shower - which I expected. But the design of the room was extremely awkward. Blank walls with no decor or painting/prints hanging. A desk in the front, right below the TV, that seemed very out of place. A flatter desk against the wall would've suited the room much better. It seemed like they didn't even consult their design team (hopefully a St Regis hotel would have one) during the transition from a Trump Hotel to a St Regis. There was one picture hanging in the entire room. Guess where it was? In the toilet room so you can see it when you're sitting on the toilet. The bed was comfortable, but again, that's expected. I have had more comfortable hotel beds before at hotels that were half the price.

The lounge in the main lobby - wife asked for a London Fog. You would expect a hotel that charges $700/night to know how to make a London Fog - ESPECIALLY if they agree to make it. You can even get a London Fog at Tim Hortons. Guess what my wife got? A tea bag with a few ounces of hot water. My wife told her it was not a London Fog. My wife even had to ask for more water. The waitress offered to bring frothed war milk. My wife declined (she had to repeatedly decline because the waitress was adamant) - because it takes more than frothed milk to make a London Fog. Guess what we were charged? $8. For a tea bag. The same tea that is free in the spa. But whatever - that's what they want to give so be it, I'll pay the bill and even leave the standard and expected tip. But these things are remembered and not forgotten by customers. Something as simple as a London Fog could not be made by a hotel of this calibre.

Now regarding the spa - I have no complaints. They did an excellent job. That is the best thing this hotel has going for it. They were exceptionally friendly, didn't hurry us, they knew what they were doing, we were offered robes, the changing areas were very clean. The spa lounge is well equipped. Oh and look there's the same $8 tea for free.

I know where I was staying and I expect to pay a premium. But for that I want premium service and that includes them knowing how to make a London Fog.

The room service was good and fast, I have no complaints regarding this. I didn't use it too often. The room cleaning was also performed very well.

Louix Louis restaurant was satisfactory. I felt it was over-priced for what you get. The taste of the food was standard, mediocre. While I don't know if I'll ever stay at this hotel again, I would never go to Louix Louis again. It was an okay experience. Menu was mostly small, unimpressive. Their "famous" 13 layer chocolate cake was just that - a chocolate cake. I don't care what's in it. It tasted like a chocolate cake that I can get anywhere. People pay for the appeal of it, the presentation and size of it. Not for the taste. Don't expect it to taste amazing because it doesn't. It is a standard chocolate cake. Again - try harder. Especially when I'm paying $500 for dinner I expect A LOT more. They could not offer it.

When you're in your room or in the lobby, the hotel doesn't feel like much. It certainly doesn't feel like a St Regis hotel or anything at that...

I needed a place to stay for a night due to work that was taking place in my residence. I had an 85K free night certificate that I needed to use and because of the lenient pet policy I was able to bring my cat. Hence I decided to book here.||||I think this hotel has potential, but there were a few things that made things feel underwhelming compared to a few previous stays - including a fairly recent one at The Whitley in Atlanta, and one a year ago at the Gritti Palace. I'll admit my expectations were high because this is a 5 star hotel and I have Marriott Platinum, and I would not apply the same level of scrutiny to a Courtyard or Fairfield.||||The first thing that bothered me is that it appears my pre-arrival notes were completely skipped over. I had made requests, they were acknowledged, and none were honoured - at least initially. For example, I had asked for a garbage bag so that I could easily dispose of the disposable litter box I had brought for my cat but this never materialized. I did, however, get upgraded to a deluxe suite due to my Platinum status - but only after asking. I assume this was because, for some reason, I could only book a 2 bedded room initially with my certificate, and I was auto-assigned accordingly because they don't have suites with 2 beds. I do think they could have done a much better job with respect to a personalized stay. The service was fine otherwise. Nothing remarkable, but not bad either - perhaps up to a Sheraton or Westin standard, but not quite St. Regis.||||The room (2501) itself was nice, if sterile looking. I really did like that there were 1.5 baths because I was able to have the half bath for my cat's exclusive use. There were no issues with cleanliness, but there seemed to be an issue with some of the lights in the room, whereby they would flicker from time to time. I also wish there was a proper refrigerator.||||I did find a design flaw with respect to the bedroom - my cat was able to get into a small (and somewhat difficult to access) space behind the bed. This required me to move the (heavy) mattress forward, and then extract her from the small crawlspace of sorts that was full of electrical stuff. I was eventually able to prevent her from getting in by blocking the "passageway" between the bed and the dresser with towels. It would be great if staff could warn guests with cats and small dogs about this.||||The pool area was very nice, and I liked that the pool and hot tub were at the perfect temperature. Didn't use the gym. However, I found that several things in the men's change room were not well-maintained, including locker locks that were partially broken, and shower temperature controls that were also somewhat broken, making it difficult to control the temperature.||||Louix Louis was probably the highlight of the stay. As my stay included breakfast for myself plus one, I invited a friend over for breakfast, and we both enjoyed it very much. We had absolutely no complaints about the service or food. The bruleed banana on top of my pancakes was absolutely delicious.||||Generally, I don't need to stay in Toronto, but if I did have to again, I'd probably look for other options - pet friendly or not depending on...
