Halloween Haunted House:
Not a good experience. Poorly managed. Lacked basic organization and communication with us waiting outside. There were about 100 people in line, many waiting 90 min and more, and during almost all of that time, no staff communicated with us until shortly before closing to tell us that they weren't going to be able to accommodate everyone. They didn't ask to see tickets. Eventually, they let us in without even knowing if we had tickets; presumably this could have been to accommodate people more quickly so more could get through. But what happened is people stormed the line, passed those of us that did have tickets and had already been waiting 90 min. So not tasking for tickets is unfair and just causes more problems. Many finally left, after wasting hours standing there. But many should not have been able to get in, since they were much further back down the line. Tell us when we arrive where to stand, and clearly separate the ticket-holders from the walk-up non-ticket-holders. It's that simple.
Why are the 'scarers' not in costume? Why all-black street clothes? Why almost all girls and only three guys? The girls were good (are they practicing actors?), but the house was sparsely decorated. The kitchen was the best room. It took 5 min to go through the house. In every room, the girls shouted, "Get out!", presumably to urge us onto the next room. Was absolutely not worth the wait for that.
Why is it only 2 hrs?? Have it run for longer, like 4 hrs per night.
Who is managing? Seemingly no one. Timothy was great. He was stressed af. He's the only one who finally gave us any information. He said this happens every year, and I overheard him say "people are gonna complain, no matter what". No. We get upset when it's so poorly run, and there is no communication.
$4 per person is nothing. They could charge more, but they have to make it much better. Putting on this event for who knows how many years, have they learned nothing about how to organize it better? It's not worth it. It's another popular event in Vancouver, that many want to experience, and it was,...

You can find a couple more on the same block on Barclay Street. And if you are an aficionado, a couple more not too far. Unfortunately, most others have fallen victim to rampant development and the ever-rising value of real estate of the most expensive...
