I recently dined at Liu Yi Shou Hot Pot, and I must say, it was one of the most appalling restaurant experiences I have ever had. Despite holding a confirmed reservation, I was made to wait 30 minutes past my scheduled time without so much as an apology or explanation from the staff. The lack of organization at the front of the house was glaringly obvious, as others with later reservations were seated before us.
Once we were finally shown to our table, I immediately regretted not walking out. The table was greasy to the touch, complete with crumbs and smudges from a previous guest, signaling a complete disregard for proper cleaning protocols. The kitchen is visible behind the curtains while normally a highlight, only added to my dismay, as I could see grimy countertops and unclean utensils in clear sight for all patrons to see.
Even the service was lackluster, with inattentive servers who acted as if they were doing us a favor by taking our order. The combination of poor hygiene, disorganized service, and downright indifference left a terrible impression. By the time the food arrived, I had already lost any appetite, and I honestly couldn’t trust its cleanliness after what I had witnessed.
In short, they are a health code violation waiting to happen, coupled with abysmal service and a dismissive attitude toward customers. Save yourself the trouble and your health—skip this...
Read moreWent for dinner to celebrate a birthday this past weekend and we had a great experience.
First and foremost, the service was exceptional. As I went with a hot-pot first timer, the female and male FoH employees took the time to explain how everything worked and what was recommended. They continued to check in on us as our meal went on and ensured we had everything we needed/wanted. They even found a special ice cream in the back for us!
We also sat beside an entire table of hotpot first-timers and the server was extremely patient and answered all their questions, even recommending that they add a grill (no extra cost) and try two soup bases. Listening and watching their interaction was another reason why the service was excellent.
We received everything we ordered in the correct quantities (a rarity when it comes to AYCE)! The meats and vegetables looked very nice and fresh and the sauce bar was well stocked.
The "help yourself" hot foods looked a bit bare and "sad," but it was later in the evening so I can understand. The chicken wings were crisp and hot, but the fried buns w/condensed milk were rather dry inside.
When we were leaving, they didn't realize we were celebrating a birthday and when they found out, offered their apologies and asked if we wanted a small cake or to take a pack of their take home soup broth.
I will for sure be...
Read moreWe went for the Lunch special deal here, since it is cheaper than the regular AYCE, there were less food options to choose from. Price is decent still, because the soup base and some buffet dishes are included already. The best item on the buffet line for us is the fried buns, that with condensed milk is the combo to heaven. Fried chicken was pretty dry and bland.
We did not really like the soup base, the Tomato soup base was a bit too sour for us. Otherwise, the Spicy one was legit. Beef and lamb were so fresh and tender. The shrimp paste was good too, chewy and sweet. The thing you need to order is the Fried Chinese Doughnut, it was far better than expected. Super crispy outside and chewy inside, dip it with condensed milk, it would change your view of life forever. Other items did not really stand out. Sauce bar has many good types of sauce, that is a bonus point.
Reminder is that do not waste too much food, because they would charge if the leftover exceeds 500g. They have 3 rounds of AYCE.
Atmostpher was really warm and cozy. Was not really busy because it was weekday. Servers were nice, I hope they would try to pay more attention to their customers. We had a pretty hard time finding a server to get assistance.
Good deal for lunch,...
