Super friendly staff who are extremely on top of what's going on, though the lack of staff makes things a bit slow at times.
One star off for two little gripes: The showers were not super clean - especially considering that there is both a door code and a coin-op between you and using the showers. Nice large and modern showers though, so I can't complain too much... and I've seen far worse in far more expensive places.
And the power situation. Your power adapter gets locked inside a cabinet and you have to run an extension cable along the dock to your boat. Not a biggy, but added about a half-hour onto my departure waiting for one of the two people on staff to come by to release my poor 30A cord.
Coin laundry was the cheapest I've ever seen and the laundry room was clean and tidy, kind of wish I could steal one of their machines to take home with me. Be ready for a bit of a walk (or wait for a bus) to get downtown since you're right under the bridges, though you can catch the little FAL$E CREEK FERRIE$ from Granville Island - TransLink needs to take them over yesterday. Super convenient access to groceries, restaurants, parks, and more. Definitely will be calling here on my next stopover in Vancouver, but I'm glad that I'm self-sufficient...
Read moreWe sailed up to Vancouver from US/Bellingham and stayed for the week at the Fisherman's Wharf marina on our boat in November 2022. It was the only place we could find with available transient moorage in the downtown area at that time, and our first time visiting the city by boat. In hindsight it was about the best place we could have stayed. False creek was extremely well protected from wind, and we were just a five minute walk from all the great restaurants, pubs, and market on Granville Island. The public bus system was incredibly convenient to ride, with stops just a short walk south of the marina. The marina itself was clean, though the docks themselves were a bit aged. A full-time attendant provided both assistance as needed and security. The marina was not gated, though only a single entrance was kept open overnight. Also of advantage for a foreign visitor is the customs dock at the south end of the marina (see picture). It is fairly nondescript, but it's there with yellow paint on the edge of the dock. We cleared into Canada from the US at this point, after sailing up the Strait of Georgia from the San...
Read moreI lucked into purchasing a sailboat on very short notice at a very good price. It happened to be lying at Burrard civic Marina, but needed to be moved on short notice. Unfortunately this also happened to be on the holiday Monday of BC day long weekend.
Someone on the dock recommended I try the fisherman's wharf (FCHA). Sure enough when I called over there, Dylan was extremely helpful, found me a slip for the night and was very accommodating and made sure we were good to go.
Upon my arrival Dylan again was a great example of flawless customer service. Helped me find supplies, local knowledge and 3-4 other misc requests that evening.
Just a genuine good human. Same goes for my limited interaction with other staff the following morning. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and well kept.
Thank you !
And to management. These are the kind of people you want representing...
