A great place to come for a quick workout or swim! They have a good selection of cardio equipment and easy to use weight equipment. They also have a separate area for weight lifting. There’s two squat racks! Amazing! The bars have good knurlings that doesn’t make it slippery. They also have little mats for when you want to deadlift. One rule to powerlifting in this gym is to not do what you don’t know... So, please don’t do any jerky upward/downward movements as it’s a safety precaution to yourself and other participants around you. The gym is also an unsupervised area ( there’s a large warning sign for everyone to read). The two downsides to the gym is that the weight room is a bit too cozy for me and that the upholstery for the bench is well worn out. This just means whenever I did bench, I found my shoulders slipping and I couldn’t properly make my back arch because of it. There are also cubbies and lockers to use. However, you would need to bring your own lock.
The pool is a excellent cool temperature for swimming lengths. The pool water is clear and isn’t murky. They have a master’s swim program in a binder where you can follow the set workout. There’s also a very popular aquacize/aquafit classes here with terrific music selection. The pool length is a standard 25M and has a good depth!
Overall, a fantastic community to workout and socialize. Everyone is welcoming and warm! I would definitely recommend friends and family to...
Read moreI have been coming here to use the gym for a few years, but was recently harrassed by man who was on the board of the KCC in the parking lot. I had parked in the lot, as instructed by my employers, while I was giving a concert for ASK Friendship Centre across the street, and he told my brass quintet not to park here as it was only for the KCC, and we apologized. Ten minutes later, the man followed me in his car while I was walking to my car, screaming at me and yelling obscenities, and he blocked my car in with his car so I couldn't leave. He took pictures of me and of my car, and banged on my car windows, all because he wanted to tell me again not to park here, though my brass quintet and I had already apologized to him. Following me, physically blocking me from leaving, and yelling and swearing at me was very scary and I feel very bad about the incident. I reported it, and received a disappointing apology letter from the KCC at the request of my employers. The letter was making excuses for his behavior, which he honestly could have been arrested for if I had called the police. Unfortunately, I no longer feel safe coming here anymore, knowing that no action has been taken to remove this aggressive man from his position in KCC. Though I am losing money by not using my gym pass, I have not come to the KCC since and have no...
Read moreThe Covid Vaccine clinic held at their Seniors Centre is a farce.
The entire provincial Covid vaccine system is a farce.
When you call their information amd booking phone line, none of their responders know which facilities carry which vaccines. They state when you go to a specific location, they can inform you where to get the different vaccines at appropriate locations.
When at the Kerrisdale Covid vaccine clinic, none of their staff knew where anyone can get the Moderna vaccine or if BC has ever had this vaccine at all. They stated call the provincial call centre because they are the only individuals with this privy information.
Other local citizens were outraged when I didn't blindly accept the Pfizer vaccine and questioned the clinic staff regarding the Moderna Vaccine.
Afterwards, the provincial call centre responder laughed at me stating I'm lucky to get anything at all.
The next day on the front page of a local newspaper, Bonnie Henry goes on record stating the Moderna vaccine has been scarce in BC and if an individual received a primary Moderna vaccine, they would most likely be receiving a secondary Pfizer vaccine.
The ramifications of mixing vaccines have been publicly published across the world averaging 40% unnecessary and completly avoidable...
