I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zubu Ramen in Kerrisdale, Vancouver, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. I decided to try their spicy chicken ramen, and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich and flavorful, providing a satisfying base for the dish. Despite ordering the regular spicy option and not the extra hot one, it still had a noticeable kick that added excitement to each spoonful. The balance of flavors in the ramen was truly remarkable, making every bite a delicious adventure.
In addition to the ramen, I also had the pleasure of trying their pork gyoza, and they were a highlight of the meal. The gyoza were perfectly pan-fried, giving them a crispy exterior while maintaining a juicy and flavorful filling. Each bite was a delightful combination of textures, and they paired perfectly with the ramen.
To accompany my meal, I chose a pint of chilled Sapporo and a 9 oz cold sake. While I'm not typically a big fan of sake, I must admit that the drink by itself was quite satisfying. It provided a refreshing and crisp taste that complemented the flavors of the meal.
Overall, my experience at Zube Ramen was fantastic. The spicy chicken ramen had a rich and flavorful broth with a perfect level of spiciness, and the pork gyoza were deliciously crispy and juicy. The pint of chilled Sapporo and cold sake were great additions to complete the dining experience. If you're looking for a place in Kerrisdale to satisfy your ramen cravings, I highly...
Read moreToday is Tuesday, Dec 5th., although the website says that they are open, they aren't at the moment. Please phone ahead to find out if they are open or not, it will save you a trip and parking fee. I had to settle for a pho accros the street...not my favorite pho place, but I was hungry and since there wasn't a signon the door, I proceeded to go with awful plan B. I love Zubu's and will go back again. ❤️ I have been eating at Zubu Ramen in Kerrisdale for approximately three years. It is the most delicious ramen soup I have eaten in Vancouver. My favorite is the bone marrow soup, but it is available only for a short time in December. All the other soups are as delicious, filling and aromatic. If you like it spicy, like I do, they will adjust your soup to please your taste buds. I love their lunch specials $22.50 (approximately), a non-alcoholic drink, appetizer, soup, and a little sweet dessert. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. I must say that I like that they hire people from all over the world...it's a multicultural working environment and that makes me extra happy. The place is comfortable, as in plenty of room. The bathrooms are clean and big. Paid parking, but if you aren't in a hurry, you can drive around the block and can find free parking and walk a block or two. You must go to ZUBU Ramen. If you like Ramen, this is the place you cannot miss. Thank you ZUBU ramen for the extra delicious soups that you create. Lina: your loyal...
Read moreIt's a real Shame that Jinya Ramen is no longer in this location, but I was excited and willing to give this new ramen joint a try.
I ordered the Brussel Sprout ramen, which was called the "Sprouting Up" ramen at Jinya. It was my favorite ramen there so I assumed it would be very good at Zubu.
Broth: a pretty flavourless let down with no depth
Noodles: the noodles we're actually quite good. Great texture and doness.
Pork: smaller portion than Jinya, with half the flavor Jinya delivered
Other toppings: you get your classic sprouts, green onions and kikurage. Nothing unusual here.
I ordered the $15 salmon ceviche as an appetizer.
The flavor was great, but for $15 dollars I expected the portion size to be bigger than 5-6 bites.
Overall it was quite disappointing with the lack of flavor and depth in the broth. I will go back to try the full dining experience once they re-open for in house dining and give it another chance. I will update my review when I go if necessary.
Edit*
I said I'd change this review to a 5 star and give it a chance for dine-in.
I gave them some time to open and get everything dialed in to re try this spot. The menu is relatively diverse with options for everyone.
The food was really nice and the servers were friendly and attentive.
Broth was creamy and smooth. The noodles were perfectly cooked The pork was cooked nicely and had the right amount of bite to fat Toppings were fresh and the egg was actually...
