I'd been wanting to come here since the very beginning of the Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival. Just couldn't resist the "Raincouver" hot chocolate with the cloud of Cotton Candy that I'd been seeing all over social media and I knew it was something our daughter would enjoy. So...we finally made it out to Honolulu Coffee for the "Raincouver" hot chocolate. While we were at it, we decided to also order "The Donut" which is the other flavor of hot chocolate that Honolulu Coffee is offering for the hot chocolate festival. The donut which accompanied "The Donut" hot chocolate was delicious. We enjoyed it almost as much as we enjoyed the cotton candy. We enjoyed the cotton candy more...but only because it was funner. In terms of tastiness, the two treats were about neck and neck.
Both hot chocolates were good but the Raincouver was our favourite, and not just because of the Instagram worthy cloud of cotton candy that was suspended over the drink. The Donut hot chocolate had a shot of espresso in it. This made the drink taste more like a coffee beverage than a hot chocolate beverage. We enjoyed it; however, we preferred the Raincouver hot chocolate which had more of a traditional hot chocolate taste to it.
I was overjoyed when I saw a sign in the shop that said they accept clean, reusable cups! Really hoping to see more of this moving forward as I'm very much an advocate for eco-friendly options.

The smoothie had mango, pineapple, banana and apple juice ie the perfect combination for the summer. The açai bowl had açai berries blended with blueberries, banana and strawberries as the base with granola, hemp seeds and lots of fruits including passion fruit as the toppings. For the açai bowl, I feel like the taste and texture of the granola did overpower the rest of the bowl. This combination overall was delicious but not very refreshing if you are looking for something light, as both had a fairly thick consistency. If you are looking for a quick summer meal that is also a treat, this combination would be perfect for you. Wouldn’t be the cheapest meal but lots of fruits!
@honolulucoffeeyvr ft Waikiki sunset (cold-brewed blue Jasmine green tea, pineapple purée, orange juice)
If you feel like you are one of the few people who are unable to visit Hawaii this year, you aren’t alone. Luckily there’s @honolulucoffeeyvr with their beautiful drinks! Look at the layers! This drink reminded me of the purple or blue freezies we had growing up. I would say their smoothies may taste a little more flavourful and less chemical than this though.
The only thing I would say about this place was that it wasn’t very very clean. The tables were not cleaned so there were crumbs all over the place. The floors were pretty messy. Def be ready to clean...
Read moreI was not expecting this place to be as accommodating and comforting as it turned out to be! Wow!
Upon looking at the menu, thinking "wow, its a little pricey here", i chose a fancy tea off of their tea menu, exoexting no more than a cup with a teaspoon of tea in a little cloth bag that would drip off the side. Note: Points for the stamo card system they have going here!
I waited at my table with my mum and sister and our order flag # 5, and was surprised to be each presented with a tea board, 3 cups worth of tea in each of our tea pots. Obviously these guys arent concerned with pumping us out of their seating area because as we each came close to finishing our tea, a friendly tender came by to top up our hot water. The tea afforded us was just as good for a second round. Super happy!
Was able to connect with my family here for abut an hour and a half... Observing the lovely workers here keeping on top on the cleanliness, presentation and warmth of the café. And one last point... When I went to the counter to inform them of a little unexpected detail I noticed on the tea menu regarding what i had ordered, i was met with compassion and a free drink token. Things like this go a long way.
This is my new favourite spot. I was initially sad that The Bean Brothers café across the street shut down, but meeting my sister and mother here today for tea seems to be exactly what was...
