New Kerridale Pizza Stop. My family & I came by to try the newest pizza stop that opened recently. From their slick glossy mail flyer we had hopes of ordering inventive pies like the Gandalf with chicken in a white sauce with cheese, red onions and spinach to the King Arthur with tomato sauce, Philly steak, onions, green peppers and cheese.
The first thing we noticed when we entered was that the fellow manning the counter refused to give us eye contact or acknowledge or our presence! He continued to show us his back while he looked a list and made a call. The customer ahead of us was waiting for his order and finally got it when the young server rushed back inside after bringing in their produce purchase.
There were no cooked pies on display for ordering by the slice. They advertise slices for $2.75 each, 2 slices with canned pop for $6.50 or 6 slices for &14.50. We were disappointed not to be able to try different slices.
We were excited to order the King Arthur from the young server but the fellow in the back said "no steak" which meant we weren't going to get this order. Instead we ordered their Sicilian, a pizza with your typical Italian toppings. The pizza arrived after less than 10 minutes. The crust was very light and thin especially at the center, the tomato sauce was flavourful but the amount of cheese and sauce is meagre. The amount of meat in the toppings was ok. It was hard to pickup a slice without the toppings falling off due to the thinness of the dough. The pizza is 14" with all pizzas priced at $14.99. For those on a keto diet or wanting a light weight pizza this place offers an acceptable compromise. For diehard pizza fans the pies offered here would be most unsatisfying value and quality for the money. My family falls into this latter category. Sitting is limited to single bar stools along communal tables. Lighting is bright. Ambiance is not suitable...
Read moreThis is my second time coming here, The first time I came here had a really great experience. Unfortunately it came off that maybe new ownership has taken over. When I first arrived I actually thought they were, until I looked at the open sign. Only had a measly offering of Ready-to-Eat pizza, wasn't even sure that they even acknowledged I was (standing only 2 ft away from them). After waiting a few minutes, the guy asked me what I wanted, I pointed at the slices I wanted. What I expected next was for the guy to ring me up and go heat up the pizza. He then proceeded to put the slices of pizza that were left out for God only knows into a paper bag and handed it to me.
Of the decades I have eaten pizza never have I been handed cold pizza at a place that makes pizza for a living! Never again, I'll...
Read moreI ordered the Sicilian pizza I think? Cappicola, Spicy sausage and a few other meats on it and the garlic cheese bread. Dough was good. NY style. A bit thicker than a Napoleon style and chewier. The toppings were not very even. One piece had a lot of sausage and one had non. Not the end of the world. The garlic cheese bread was good, but it was severely lacking garlic. I would call it more if a cheese bread. I did NOT get any garlic flavour or taste whatsoever. Was very good, but maybe just call it cheese bread.
Overall I would give them 3.5/5. Not a 4 not a 3. Value- 5/5
I don’t know if I would order again, but I’m also very picky about my pizza! Although for $20 it’s significantly cheaper than say pizza garden.
With that being said, I think for the price I would...
