tl;dr stylist gave me hot roots for $230, manager refused to refund. Please avoid.
I heard about Luxor six years ago but was never able to to afford it. I wanted to try several of their services. Now that I can afford to indulge myself, I am deeply disappointed.
I discussed with the stylist to dye ash brown, and not copper, orange, or red. She had a book of hair colours opened and showed me that if I do not use bleach, the colour in the book will be the result. It was not as light as I hoped but it was still ok to me, as long as it was not copper, orange, or red. She said if the colour is too dark for my preference, she can lighten it.
When colouring was done, the result was a dark brown. I said that it was too dark and she said that to lighten it she will have to bleach it. She then advise me not to use purple shampoo because that is for blonde hair but to use green or blue shampoo to make the colour more vibrant.
If I knew it would be dark brown I would have asked to bleached it in the first place but I put my trust into her because she said that the result will be like in the book she was holding. I was dumb enough to pay $230 for it. When I got outside the colour was what I said I did not want: it was copper but ONLY AT THE ROOTS—the rest of my hair had NO COLOUR. I looked so washed out and pumpkiny. I called the store and the stylist said she gave me lighter roots to make me look natural. She said to wash it out a few times and the colour will lighten.
I washed it 4 times and the bottom of my hair did not brighten. I called back and a male stylist picked up and said that to fix it, it will cost $200 to bleach medium length hair. He then said he will talk to the manager and call back. After some time, I received a call from the stylist that did my hair and that the manager offerd $400, a discounted price, to bleach and colour. That is ridiculous because I paid $230 JUST for colouring, and I was given a quote of $200 to bleach, why am I expected to pay $400 + tax to fix it? I said no and their counter offer was to fix my roots for free.
The manager's reasoning for not refunding was because I had already coloured it. Where is the colour? That what I was asked when I got home. The "colour" would not show up in doors so I had to step outside to even capture it on camera.
I hope the manager's happy with a measly $230 when I would have continued my patronage were the manager not stingy, Furthermore, I would have recommended others to this shop. I have already told at least four people about this incident and shall continue to do so if Luxor is ever brought up. Hopefully this review will help others. I should have listened to the other 1 star reviews on Google. I will keep the disaster on my head and go out. If I am asked what happened to my hair, I will say it was done at Luxor. I am happy to proudly...
Read moreWhile I was waiting for my appointment, another girl was waiting for her nail appointment. From what I heard, they double booked the nail technitian and the poor girl who was leaving in couple days couldn't get her nails done on time before the trip. She said how she booked the appointment 2 weeks ago and this happend. There was nothing done for her as the staff repeated that it's just can't be done. The manager who booked the appointment wasn't there and had to be called to be explained what happend. Still no resolution. The girl just left.
While I was watching this, my appointment was delayed and I was still waiting 15 minutes passed from my session time. The stylist was doing a colour session with another customer and it seemed to me that they somehow booked a colour and my cut at the same time. I understand when you do colours, they do have a bit of time till they wait for the colour to process, but it's way too short of a time to do someone else's haircut.
The moment she cut my hair, I knew that she was not as experienced as I expected her to be. The whole session was rushed because she had the colour session going at the same time. She did not wash my hair because it was clean, but even without that, the entire haircut for me ( a girl with long hair) took 15 minutes.
15 minutes. The end result was nothing that I expected. The cut was uneven, the front bang chopped short to the chin, no natural layers that I asked for (She chopped my inner hair saying it was too heavy).
At the end she charged me 56 before tax. And I knew something was wrong. I asked her if she took off the shampoo and dry fee. And she pretended that she forgot to take it off. She took off $5 and I am not even sure if that is the right fee. But I know that she knowingly tried to slip in the shampoo fee and wished to pass by.
Awful experience. Will not be returning. I expect more professional and skilled hair session for $60 haircut done...
Read moreI went there 2 weeks ago for a root perm and it was good. The hairstylist recommended me to have layer hair if i want more volume so I decided to go back but they assigned a different hairstylist not the one that was talking to me and i was surprised but considering my previous experience I assumed he was as good as her. I showed him multiple pictures of the hair i wanted and he said the pics were blow out and used curling iron so i have to use them if i want it to look like that. He also said if i want layer with volume i need to cut short (my hair was medium length). I previously had a long bob layered cut at Salon de nuvida and Caleb did a great job keeping same length but giving me the layer and volume i wanted without curling iron or anything, just hair dry. So the issue is the stylist capability and talent here, it’s not that it’s not doable he just couldn’t do it but refused to say so. At first I didn’t want to because i wanted to keep the same length but after he cut and dry it it looked exactly the same with when i came in nothing changed i saw no layer no volume. He kept insisting that i need to cut it shorter if i want volume so i said he can cut it shoulder length. Little did i know it was the worst hair cut in my life. Too short, volume at bottom not top making me look like a papaya and way older than my actual age. People always say i look young for my age but this haircut makes me look like I’m 40 when i’m only 20. At the end of the haircut he asked if im ok, i guess he somewhat sensed my disappointment, but at that point nothing could have been done anymore. I paid $63 for this horrible haircut and came home crying, canceled all my plan for the day because I can’t meet or do anything with this hair. Literally gives me depression. Will never come back again so save yourself some time, money and tears and go somewhere else or dont get the same...
