Thank you for your response. Let’s not have she said she said. You can watch the video feed you have in your shop. I offered at least two times to have my purse looked at, your associate said i don’t want to look at it. I noted i did not have an issue with my purse being checked but your associate continue to note I must leave my purse behind the counter like everyone else.
Sorry Adam, I have to add to my review. I understand you are having issues with goods being stolen but that is typical of all businesses near a transit corridor. You do have the option to lock your goods behind all your cabinets. But to have me surrender my purse with all my ID and cash where someone can just walk away with it is NOT for me. I have seen when your store gets busy, your patron's possession is the last thing that is on your staff's mind. My car and house key is my phone, my phone goes in my purse because it does not fit in my pocket and can't hold your fragile goods with only one hand. For your staff to suggest i leave my purse in my car before i enter your store is ridiculous. losing ones ID and access is a lot more hassle. I know I am just one customer who spent almost 10K at your store and losing me is not that important. But I am sure there are other honest patrons that feels the same. Besides my previous suggested perhaps you can provide secure key lockers where one can lock our purse up but in plain sight. Or have one evening of the month where your trusted regulars can visit your store without being turned around as a potential thief at the door. Am sure you thought about a civil suit if a patron's purse is stolen from behind your store counter.
My review below over 19 months ago have not changed; Have never been to a store with so much eye candy. This place gives Fossilera competition. Congrats Adam for creating such a great place to encourage future geologists and palaeontologists and especially for people with passion for shimmering and...
Read moreI was visiting Van for a family wedding and as a rock and mineral enthusiast I of course went looking for a place to get my fix.
Well. I found it. The first day I stopped in I was in tears it was so beautiful.
This place in incredible. Off the charts. There were several things I’ve been hoping to add to my collection and this place had every single one.
Aside from the classic rose quartz and amethyst tumbles you can find in most shops, they also carry an assortment of rare fossils and minerals that can be dodgy to buy sight unseen. I have never been to such a well curated store with such a wide variety of carved and raw gems as well as supplies for polishing, carving, and tumbling. They even have miscellaneous unfinished slabs of various jaspers, agates, and crystals if you’re into hand carving and polishing your own specimens.
The staff were kind and knowledgeable and although the owner wasn’t there either time I visited, they spoke very highly of him and his vision for the store. Despite only being in their new location a short time, they were very well set up and stocked. Some things were still unpriced or unlabeled or on the floor, but that wasn’t a problem for me. I actually rather enjoyed taking the time to pour over everything and wander the store for hours. I never ran out of things to see!
I plan to make a yearly pilgrimage here to bring things into my collection. The prices are spot on for what you are getting. I can honestly say that I didn’t feel pressured to purchase things I wasn’t sure about, or gouged when I showed great interest. Everything was upfront and transparent which can sometimes be a challenge for fledging collectors when dealing with less reputable places.

Read moreI went to Rubble Rock and Gem today driving in from Coquitlam. It took me one hour to get there....I was so looking forward to shopping in your store as I just recently started to collect these kinds of Crystals/Minerals etc.. I checked your website prior to heading down and thought I'll probably find all kinds of interesting things... I got through a couple of aisles when a young male employee said Hi and proceeded to ask me if I would leave my purse at the front behind the cash desk counter...keep in mind this was not a tote or a large shopping bag just a normal medium size purse. He said "I'm not singling you out" and proceeded to pull another customers purse out from under the counter to show me that others had complied. I said no I would not be leaving my handbag in any unattended area. He said "you can leave it in your car as we have cameras out side... needless to say I was more than shocked and left the store immediately. I do understand the need for security as I supervise a chain of 10 ladies clothing stores all over the lower mainland...I have worked in retail just shy of 40 years. I have never requested this of a customer nor have I ever been asked this while shopping in any environment...high end, low end or anywhere in between. My suggestion to your organization would be to either staff it with enough employees to escort potential customers around your store as you clearly don't trust anyone or lock the door and have only one customer at a time...good luck to you in your business though. I can honestly say I will never return to such an unwelcoming retailer...what's next...maybe no coats or pants allowed if they have pockets...absolute lack of critical...
