I was a regular costumer for Tokyo Beauty becaude I like their Japanese products here eventhough it is ran by Chinese.
The employees are nice, but today (Oct 6) was I was greatly disappointed and angry. The employee didn't handle well my concern. The situation was that they advertise in their Sale flyer weekly (Oct 5 - Oct 10) for the Japanese eyeliner (reg 23.99) for 17.99. When they scan that specific eyeliner, it came up to a regular price. I asked the sales lady if she could price adjustment to honor the this week's Sale Flyer. The sale rep. told me that she couldn't because it rang up as regular price. I asked if her manager is around and maybe she could fix the issue and ask if they have a business card. The sale rep. told me that her she cannot tell her manager and she doesn't have the contact number or business card that she can provide. Also, she added the owner of the store might have accidently put the wrong price to the flyer.
I FIND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I felt fully betrayed of Tokyo Beauty because I have been a loyal customer for years since they opened on Richmond and Kerrisdale. This store has completely left a very bad taste. I will stop supporting them from now on. I am not sure if Tokyo Beauty will be reading this review since they are more active in their Wechat Group and Little Red Book (XHS). I hope, I can bring awareness to locals about this situation as a costumer of...
Read moreI found this place originally while looking for a Suntory collagen drink for someone (but they didn't have it) . They don't carry really expensive brands like that, but more like maybe Japanese drugstore-level brands for their health and beauty products so everything is fairly reasonably priced.
Small boutique/convenience store selling mainly Japanese products, some you don't see at Asian supermarkets like T&T.
You can find some lots of household and health products. There's a section for insurance for items and snacks as well.
Staff are friendly enough. Usually able to answer questions with familiarity with their inventory.
I noticed that they have a Lucky Surprise food/snack bag section. I'm guessing they use this also for their "To Good to Go" bags.
My Japanese friend found some instant ramen flavours that were at a sale price lower that her usual places.
Parking is metered street parking within a 1-2 block radius but free residential street parking after that.
I would come here to buy stuff if in the neighbourhood and looking for reasonably priced...
Read moreMy sister bought me the Pabron Gold A. Granules Cold Medication from this location. We were not aware that it was seized from two other Tokyo Beauty locations in Richmond. My sister tried to ask the store for a refund, and she was told that the store did not keep their receipts, and that they had no record of the transaction. This was after my sister showed her receipt to them.
As a loyal customer of Tokyo Beauty of many years, it is very discouraging to see a business not take any accountability for selling products that were seized by Health Canada. The correct and appropriate course of action would have been to refund the customer and to apologize to them. T&T recalled products and acknowledged the mistake and offered refunds to customers who purchased contaminated food.
I highly recommend customers to not purchase medication here, as it is always best to purchase medications directly...
