Total Scam! I called in to place a take-out order of two fried rice. I was quoted $54 in total. I thought that it was too expensive for 2 fried rice dishes, Preserved Vegetable Minced Pork Rice and Salted Fish & Diced Chicken Rice. I fact checked with its website where it listed the prices for the 2 dishes are $20.99 and $22.99. With 7% tax, the total would be $47.06. When I arrived at the restaurant, I asked Lily who took my order via phone call why she would charge me $56.45 while the menu prices listed on their website menu plus tax do not add up to $56.45. She said due to Lunar New Year, she has to raise the price. I asked her why she didn't update the prices on the restaurant, DoorDash and Uber websites. There's no poster or flyer of any sort at the restaurant or such explanation when I made the call. She showed me the Lunar New Year menu and said the restaurant will only prepare the Lunar New Year dishes. All other dishes will have a temporary price increase. Lily said she will honor the menu price should the customers order via restaurant website, DoorDash and Uber. Furthermore, she said the price will go back to the menu prices on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year(Feb 13th). None of these make any sense or justify jacking up the prices. So customers are forced to order from the expensive Lunar New Year menu or ready to be charged almost $10 more for the same dishes in the name of Lunar New Year. I wonder how much more they will try to raise their prices for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, BC Day, Remembrance Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, etc. If they want to increase the prices the restaurant owner/operator should advertise and notify their customers properly instead of making their customers feel they are being scammed, especially those who will pay in cash and you don't know who actually gets the extra $10. In any case, Lily's math is all over the place....
Read moreIt was a dreadful mistake wasting my money in this place. The worst food we've had in a Vancouver restaurant in many a year. I don't know what other people get served but what we had was horrible. It was supposedly chicken chow mein, which we expected to be some lovely warm noodles with chicken and veggies, but it was a pile of dried noodles like the ones that come in cheap ramen packs with some slimy stuff that seemed to be coated in nothing but wet cornstarch. Honestly, we could not believe how atrocious this was. It was so horrible we just had to joke about it. "Don't forget to eat your spinal cord," one of us said about some weird looking thing we could not identify. Along with this disaster came boring so-called spring rolls, which contained I don't know what, more weird unidentifiable slimy white stuff.
And lest you think we don't know what Chinese food is like, one of us is half Chinese and we lived in Hong Kong for years, so Chinese food is in no way unfamiliar to us, but this horrible stuff was.
this, along with two pops, cost us over $40!!! It was nothing but a huge rip off and massive waste of money. Not surprising that we were the only customers in there. To make it worse, if possible, a TV was on playing the same annoying "tune" on a loop, so we asked if the TV could be turned off. Oh, of course not! That bloody big TV just had to be on, for whose benefit, I know not, as there was nobody else in the place! But it couldn't be turned off when the only customers in there asked that they be allowed to NOT be bombarded by elevator music. I was angry with myself for ever giving this place a chance. We are at 41st and West Blvd. often and like to try different restaurants. But this was a horrible mistake and a total waste of...
Read moreWe were regular of this restaurant and every year, we would dine here for King crab season. This year, we have a newborn that we could not dine in. So we decided to order a pick up order on the phone. We were preset with set menu for $398 advertised by the restaurant and was told to pay ahead of time to secure the pick up due to the large amount. We have discussed all the details including pick up time, etc.
When we showed up in the restaurant to pay, we were told since it is a pick up order, we need to pay $50 extra because set menu was dine-in only. This information was not present on the restaurant website or told by the staff on the phone to us. The manager simply said what we were told by their own staff on the phone was not right
Speculation of this action was due to that staff could lose tips for this order, therefore demand surcharges, while in this economic slow time, we are willing to be considerate and actually ready to add tips on the order, but was demand a surcharge that was not agreed or advertised, it is no no for us.
So we decided to walk away and would never come back to this restaurant to encourage deceptive marketing and...
