I walked in with a spacebar issue and I walked out a spacebar issue and a trackpad issue!
Terrible experience with Jump+ at Vaughan Mills “servicing” my Macbook and hope this warning will save others from the same experience. Here's what happened.
Took my laptop in to get the space bar fixed since it has been sticking and left it with them to inspect. Later that day, I received a call from Jump+ saying Apple has in their system that my computer was purchased in 1978 and that I would have to call and sort this out with them in order to verify if the laptop was still under warranty. My laptop is a Macbook 2016 model so it's not covered. I decided not to get it fixed (cost not worth it) and picked it up the next day. But when I brought the laptop home, I discovered the trackpad was now not functioning properly (you can see the trackpad is no longer flat/flush on the keyboard). Contacted Jump+ immediately and they told us to bring the laptop back. I was going to bring it back but instead decided to take it to Apple to see if they could help. I didn't want the laptop to be further damaged.
At Apple, they said their hands were tied, and advised that Jump+ is accountable to fix any problems they cause. Back and forth emails followed with the Manager of Jump+ who refused to acknowledge responsibility for the damage to the trackpad. I even have their diagnostic notes saying that the laptop was opened to check for water damage (which was not authorized by me) and I can only assume that is when the damage happened. Since Jump+ had not confirmed the laptop was under warranty, why would they have needed to open it up to inspect it?
When Jump+ performed the initial inspection they would have noticed there was a trackpad issue. Instead they claim that there was no issue when they handed the computer back (and in so inferring that it must have been caused by me)!
The only solution the Manager could offer was that they could fix the trackpad for $300 which is absurd given that they caused the damage! If you scan the reviews you will see there is another customer who had a similar problem with the trackpad, not to mention countless other reviews from other dissatisfied customers. Yes you will see positive reviews too but there are more than enough negative reviews to indicate problems with their experience and customer service.
I’m hoping someone will take my advice after reading this. If you need an Apple device repaired please take it directly to an Apple store to get your device fixed correctly. I only went to Jump+ because it was closer and they’re supposed to be a “authorized Apple service provider” which I fully regret now. (FYI Apple doesn’t take responsibility for mistakes that their authorized service providers makes).
Don't let this happen to you, it is not worth the risk!
UPDATE - In response to Jump+ comments: When I brought it in, the only stickiness was with the spacebar (no issue with other keys) The other failed diagnostic was identified as battery life which is irrelevant here. Again no mention that there was a trackpad issue which I assume means it was working when we...
Read moreToo bad there’s not an option to not select any stars. This store is garbage. I had a damaged screen and decided to book an appointment to have it fixed as the site clearly said SAME DAY. I went in they told me they’re back logger it’s 7-14 days. Why promote false advertising? Then I requested to have my phone I fix as I need to use it for work as I’m an on call nurse they did take my request into consideration and told me to leave my phone they will try , I didn’t want to leave my phone with uncertainty so I said I will call two other locations to see what they are offering . Quickly they said oh don’t worry about that we’ll get your phone in the queue and it’ll be ready by either the same evening or next day. I appreciated their effort and left the phone as I was guaranteed they would expedite the service. I went home and haven’t heard anything so I decided to call. Their phone kept ringing out from 5pm until closing! I was so upset and their website had no update from when I left the phone at this location. Why have a business phone if no one can attend to it? Using my iPad for emergency was so frustrating for my shift. The following day I called at 10am, finally some one answered and when I asked about the status they responded nothing was done on my phone. I have never been so upset , why tell me one thing and can’t even act on it? Had they easily told me the same day I went that we’re sorry we cannot process your request I would happily taken my service elsewhere but it seems that this place was so hungry for business they lied me saying they will guarantee my screen repair either the same evening or next day. I picked up my phone and part of my case is missing when I asked them, they said that’s everything. My case is an otterbox which has 3 compartments. I took out two and they said leave the other one and took the phone along with that when they told me they will prepare it for the queue. They denied saying there’s nothing in the back and how I never left it. Such nonsense! Why would I take off half of my case and not the whole thing. Now I have to replace my case as well. Anyways I took my phone to Apple Yorkdale and had my service done within an hour. When they saw I was already registered for this request at Vaughan location, they asked me what happened and when I explained my situation she replied that was absolutely preposterous. Such a waste of my time. Never recommending this store to anyone for anything nor will I ever return here....
Read moreWorst Apple experience of my life! A few days ago i came into the store to get my device looked at by the apple experts at Jumpplus Vaughan. But instead I dealt with Tonny, the worst manager of all time! If I could give 0 stars to his service, I would! This manager was the rudest employee i have ever had to talk to and i still am extremely disappointed by the customer service i had that day. The store was empty and I was the only person there. I asked Tonny a quick question regarding my iphone since i’ve never gotten my battery replaced before and wanted to know the process and he was instantly so mean and nasty to me. He was telling me the process which is okay but the attitude was disgustingly repulsive for no reason. He kept interrupting my sentences as I was trying to speak, wouldn't let me ask questions to him, and caught him rolling his eyes at me multiple times in the conversation. When I asked him if i could book an appointment for myself he said “do it yourself by going on our website” and then he quickly walked away behind the service area. I then went to another woman behind the counter with glasses who was ALSO extremely rude to me as well. She spoke to me in a rude tone and was brushing me away. She told me to go book it online myself and then proceeded to play on her Apple watch ignoring me while I stood there. As a paying customer, I have never been so mistreated by an Apple employee, who is known for their high standard of service and manners. But not here! “I left the store to do some shopping and came back an hour later and I met another worker named Rajiv who is the definition of good service. The store was busy and there was a line up. Despite helping a new employee beside him who kept pulling him aside often and clearly being overwhelmed with customers he still spoke to each person kindly and with patience. He spoke to me with a smile, answered all my questions patiently and then BOOKED ME AN APPOINTMENT WITH NO TROUBLE WHATSOEVER. Don’t come to this store if you see Tonny or the other lady at the helm, JUST RUN AWAY. Horrible management at...
