Too expensive. I have travelled all over the world including South Africa, France, England, USA, Far East and everywhere markets are consistently lower in price than are the surrounding supermarkets and the produce is fresher that supermarkets. In Victoria the community markets are the opposite of what I have experienced elsewhere and are, therefore, not competitive. Yes, the products are all of high quality as they are in markets I have seen and shopped in around the world. Community markets would have much increased clientele numbers if the costs were at least competitive but preferably lower than supermarkets and mall vendors. When I travel I shop predominantly in community markets and have never been disappointed however in the markets in Victoria at least I have not had the same...

One of our favourite things to do on a Saturday! This market is a local gem, especially in the summer when there are musical acts on stage, incredible organic produce, awesome lunch food — salmon burgers, local sausages, Persian kabobs, Middle Eastern dishes made by a women’s collective, and more. Fry’s Bakery is highlight, and also gluten-free alternatives if that’s your thing. Chai, coffee, and kambucha are on offer. As of 2017, local distilleries and brewers tout craft liquor, wine and beer. The many craft sellers offer locally made ceramics, jewelry, clothing, toys and much more. A kids art tent is also a highlight. All of this in a very pleasant setting on the grounds of SJD elementary school, with playground equipment both in the market itself and on the other side...

This market is a great place for finding organics of all types. It has a festive atmosphere and all the vendors are friendly. You can find great food for your on-site-outdoor lunch while listening to nice music from local talents. The variety of crafts being sold is amazing, even a Japanese couple is there selling hand-made kimonos and tasty home made Japanese delicacies. Local cheeses, vegetables of all kinds, plants, pottery, breads with other baked goods and so many other things can be found there. It is open every Saturday from 10am to 2:00 from May to October if I remember well. It is just a great place where to spend some of...

Had a lovely time at the Moss Street Market! Bought a ton of jams and preserves from Maison Preserves Co, and other produce and goodies. I love this handmade whale bowl from Eliska Liska in the “Crafter and Artisan Vendor”area. Everything was socially distanced and there were lots of COVID19 procedures to follow, but it was all simple and easy to follow. We found parking in the school parking lot, but there was also lots of street parking available. I would love to stop by again this summer! Would highly recommend for people who like outdoor markets, craft fairs, and shopping local!

This is the best markets in the region in my opinion! I have been to many other farmers market around Greater Victoria and in the Lower Mainland and a couple elsewhere in BC. Moss Street Market (spring/summer) has some of the best produces, handcrafted food and goods. There are two small playgrounds at the market/next to the market. The market also has a kids zone and live performances to keep everyone entertained.

Cute and lots to look at. You can browse all the stalls in about 15 min. So not super huge but a good look into the local market. Flowers, veggies, mushrooms, crafts, jams, Mexican food… a good variety! We had tamals which were yummy and well priced. Was cold the day we went but it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.
