Urban Grocer — Local services in Victoria

I love coming in to your store. You have a great selection of food at a reasonable price,plus the best smoked salt in town!!! I would like to note one thing though that I have become disappointed in... :( When you started selling fried chicken it was awesome!!! Now unfortunately it is nowhere near as good. The foil bags that you have adopted for packaging instead of the boxes you used originally does horrible things to the chicken and the breading is now soggy instead of crisp and the chicken itself was wet and frankly gross. Unfortunately last time I was in for the second time I purchased (against my better judgement) three packages of your fried chicken to go with salad for dinner for my partner and I and welllllllll...to make a long story short we wound up throwing the fried chicken out as it was completely inedible as it was the time before this as well. This doesn't mean I will stop patronizing your store but I can't see me buying anymore of your fried chicken which kind of sucks as I used to enjoy it so much. Cheers... PS. One final thing is that the foil bags you now use can not be recycled where as the boxes could be...

I am glad you have temporarily removed your fried chicken from your products until you can find a suitable packaging alternative,this is very forward and proactive thinking on the part of you and your team. I think we have all been affected to one extent or another by the supply chain shortages. It must be very frustrating for you and the company.

As I stated in my review I will continue to patronize your store as it really is a great little grocery store that offers high quality products and some very unique products...in short your store sure beats the heck out of the big stores for quality,variety and all at very competitive prices! I also love the amount of locally sourced items you carry! Plus your staff have always been a pleasure to deal with.

Lovely selection! I love the variety they have. Lots of great local products, and lots of good brands. Some of their items are amazing deals and sale items are always a good deal.

The produce here is TOP NOTCH!!! And they have been doing a great job with labeling Canadian products throughout the store, and labeling country of origin in the produce department.

Most of the time I walk here, but when I have driven I've never had any problems finding parking in the area, even when it's busy.It’s really nice to have a store within walking distance.

Some items can be more expensive here, like most M&M products are double the price, compared to buying them from m&m directly. And a few of the dairy items are more than other stores. But over all this is a really lovely store to shop at.

The staff here are wonderful, the store is always clean and organized, and I really do love shopping here.

The quality of the produce is unmatched and their sale items are still great deals.

UPDATE: There are just some items I prefer to purchase elsewhere due to the fact that they have gone up in price when they used to be comparable to other stores like save on and thrifty’s. But it really is a 5 star store because their service, and quality of products...

I remember visiting Urban Grocer on the day they opened. I really liked what I saw there, but it looked like the prices were quite high. Now they have one day a week where there’s a 10% discount on all kinds of great foods, especially produce. And there’s a flyer every week so I can plan ahead.

Yesterday they had an amazing sale. I bought 15 items and saved 43%. The best deal was on boxes of fresh blueberries. 5 lbs. for $10.

I also bought six ears of corn. Only 50c each. All the other groceries were selling these for a dollar each. And this is some of the tastiest corn I have EVER eaten in my life!
