A country oasis in the middle of the city! There was a time when this used to be called the bird sanctuary but you really don't see that many birds there these days. Rather, you are apt to see more dog walkers and, given that this places located in Westmount, one of the most affluent communities in North America, you get to see a fun assortment of characters, both the dogs and their owners. It is such a beautiful walk with two main trails through the woods and a few side trails that follow the perimeter along the road that circles the area. There are two free parking areas, one of the east end of the summit and the other right in front of the lookout - a lookout which affords a really spectacular view of the city. Read moreSummit woods is super underrated. I’m glad that this former property of McGill was given to the city of Westmount.
Pros: A) They have trails for you and your dog to walk on. B) There are some signs and waypoints to guide though they should have more signs and have its history written for all to see and read. C) Very nice to walk or jog there.
Cons: A) Parking is available some have spots others you can park on street. Best to walk or bike etc. B) No washrooms. C) Not enough benches and no place to relax.
Conclusion: We need more woods and more forestry in the city because it’s important to preserve nature and more wildlife here.
God Bless the Summit Woods. God Bless the city of Westmount for maintaining it and God Bless McGill for keeping it in the becoming.
Hope more projects like...

It has a lookout point which is temporarily closed (I think due to covid 19). No known water fountains either. Oh and beware...
