Mekan & Beyond- Burger Authentique — Restaurant in Montreal

I got the Denver Duo burger delivered. I wasn't sure whether to leave 5 stars at first but after much deliberation I settled on 5, as this is an excellent burger worthy of the highest praise. The reason why this review took me a while to think on is not that the burger is bad or I didn't like it. It's because the burger patty is not what I expected when I bought a gourmet burger called the Denver Duo. Now hold on- I didn't say it's not gourmet. Or that it's not amazing. It's definitely both.

The best way I can describe the patty is that it's a REALLY, REALLY GOOD mix between burger meat and meatloaf made with lean-ish meat in terms of texture and tons (and I mean TONS) of spices. It actually reminds me of kafta meat but the consistency is just right for being between two burger buns. I've had burgers on the leaner side in some places in the US, but this is a unique burger. I like burgers a lot and this is the first time I taste one like this.

Mekan means, among many things in different dialects, "place" in Lebanese Arabic. Many Lebanese fast food items are named after places in the US- the Philadelphia and Fransisco sandwiches, for example. However, having spent many years in Lebanon, I've never heard of such names being given to hamburgers.

So the burger took me by surprise. I was very happy with it once I got over my surprise. And it's unique enough that I didn't immediately think of it being Middle-Eastern. We tasted heavenly burgers from Mekan & Beyond. We were looking for a good place to have burgers, and decided to try this one.

We ordered the Beyrouth burger. The touch of the fried eggplant and honestly all of the other ingredients such as the turnips, the sauce mix (garlic sauce and tahini)and even the pickled chilies on the side was just divine.

We also ordered the Denver Burger which was your typical burger with the classic ingredients which was also very good.

Unbelievable to say that the burgers were not greasy at all ! Which was unexpected and makes it easy on digestion.

Their fries are amazing and the side of red cabbage coleslaw was a nice and different touch to add a crunch and complete the meal.

To conclude we had to try the Dubai Kunefe special, very worth it ! It was not extremely sweet which is what I would usually go for.

PS2: I've been twice now, and it never disappoints. I can confidently say that Mekan & Beyond ranks in my top 3 burger restaurants...

The burger was cooked to perfection, with a juicy patty and fresh bun. But what really stole the show was the creamilyzed onions - oh my, they were a game-changer! 🤩 I'm not exaggerating when I say that I could taste the sweetness of the onions in every bite, and it complemented the savory flavors of the burger perfectly. 🤤

The service was also top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made great recommendations and ensured that we had an exceptional dining experience. 👏

Overall, I highly recommend Mekan & Beyond - Burger Authentique to anyone looking for a delicious burger and a great dining experience. 🍔👌 The Montreal burger is a must-try, and I can't wait to come back and try some of their other menu items!...
