Giggling Gecko Adventures — Attraction in Boa Vista

Extremely disappointed with our recent Turtle Tour. Picked up from hotel, 7pm no English speaking guide, we werent told anything. Told only 4 people could travel in the back of pick up by driver he then proceeded to put 6 passengers in. Then added a buggy too despite no children being on the tour. We weren't told where we werw going or hpw long it would take. Eventually arrived at the Touareg hotel after a lengthy journey. We sat here for approx half an hour, another giggling geckos truck pulled up and the 2 drivers went on to have an argument. After a very lengthy wait and again not being told anything we were taken on a further lengthy ride where we eventually arrived at the Turtle Camp. Driver told us to wait by truck and we were eventually taken in to the camp and asked ro sit at a large table, the driver then disappeared. We sat and waited and waited for around 30 minutes before eventually a member of the turtle staff explained there had been an error and we had been taken to the wrong beach. He explained he would try to get us to see some turtles but to wait. Evenrually he returned and commenced a talk about the turtles unfortunatley this was very difficult to listen to as at the same time behind us anorher talk had already commenced in German and so we couldnt hear what our guide was saying. Eventually approx 10.30pm we were eventually lead on to beach, seen some hatchling turtles and a turtle lay her eggs. We were then lead back to the camp where we were expected to get back in tbe trucks. Drivers didnt explain which truck waa which bearing in mind this is all in pitch black. Drivers said nothing and drove off into night at high speed. Dropped at touareg and back on to our hotels. The ride back was horrendous, the two drivers racing each other down dirt tracks at high speed we couldnt see for dust, no chance to see the stars, hung on for dear life and then when dropped at hotel driver was hinting for a tip. Drive home was so fast due to erratic speeds of idiotic drivers. Not a giggling geckos member of staff present the whole time. Would not recommend. Felt unsafe on the journey and...

We had a wonderful time!

We went on a turtle tour and quad biking with the giggling gecko, and I can whole-heartedly recommend them! They are professionals from start to finish, the equipment is top-class and you really get your money's worth. We planned the turtle tour a bit last minute, but I'm so glad we went! The trip starts off with a jeep ride under the stars - WOW! The terrain is a bit rugged at the end, so hold on tight! We then got to the moonlit beach and found a turtle right away. You can get quite close to the turtles (the guide will instruct you) and see everything well thanks to special red lights (remember - turtles are afraid of white light, so no pictures or phones). We even let some baby turtles out into the ocean, what an incredible experience. The quad tour was completely different, much more adventurous and exciting. The quads were very powerful, and the instructors went fast. You can tell they are pros at what they do. We got a lot of time on the bikes, it didn't feel rushed, and we spent some time on Santa Monica beach and by the cave too. The views were breathtaking. The only negative thing I can say about the entire experience is being left at a random, expensive bar for 2 hours after the trip. I just wanted to go back to the hotel, not sit there and wait for the driver to return. I would advise you not to spend any money in that bar, it's expensive and the quality is sub-par. One of the best tours we have done on holiday. We did the South Tour Quads and they were brilliant.

The tour was just what we wanted and took us along some amazing coast lines that we have never seen before.

The team of Giggling Geckos are just great, they put the personal touch into your tour and make it so much better.

Richard, was great on our tour and answered all the questions we had for him and he know everything about the Island. He also kept us ahead of other people that were out on Quads which made our trip much better as it wasn't busy at all.

After the Quads we went to a beach bar for a couple of hours which was really cool. The beach was really nice and meant we could chill for a few hours. The beach and sea was amazing and it was calm so we could swim in it, which was good as the hotel we were staying at the beach was always red flagged.

I contacted Jenny Smith when I was in Cape Verde via Facebook and she was brilliant in getting back to me and sorting eveything out. I was also able to do a bank transfer to pay for the trip, amazing and so much easier.

We can't say enough about this trip as we enjoyed it so much and it's a must when in Cape Verde.
